Fun opening. Funny how when you do the most static setlist of your career all of last year, 3 changes feel like its the best show of the tour lol.

He looks and sounds good. Would enjoy some more switch ups, but the tried and true set works as well if you just want to see Bruce. We were spoiled for awhile.

San Diego got "My City of Ruins" and "Detroit Medley", other than that it was pretty much same old, same old.

Seems like Kitty's still not back.

hi Topi,
why did I have to look up last night's setlist all by myself? Why don't you keep us informed…winking smiley

Bruce must’ve listened to me when I said the Don’t Play That Song-Nightshift-Mary’s Place stretch needed some swaps. Racing in the Street excellent

Great to see Bruce look healthier. The increased variation from show to show is very welcome. Judging by these first few shows, this feels like a return to for me (was not a fan of the 2023 shows).

Gotta wonder why the switch now. I'd say cause last year wasn't successful or popular, and maybe it wasn't with hardcores, but every show was still sold out and on the whole people left happy. Even if you weren't a fan of the setlist, you could leave and say it was a good show. You got why he stuck with it. Did he finally get bored? Did he feel he HAD to change it up some more? Interesting why this year is so far what it is and last year was so static. Some are saying it had to do with the ulcer and he was actually in pain all year so thats why there was less switching around.

I saw a stat that said he had already played 41 different songs so far this year - as compared to 68 different songs in total on the 2023 tour. Source: Spring-Nuts Facebook group.

Setlist.fm has him having played 80 different songs in 2023. But that's probably counting the benefits+other solo appearances as well.

All that said, for the first time Bruce concert goers, he has a number of "warhorses" ala The Stones - BTR, TR, PL, Badlands, etc.

I've been fortunate enough to see him play a wide variety of his stuff - including most of Greetings. I still get a chill when that harmonica opens up "Thunder Road".

Also, "Nightshift" should be dropped in favor of an original.

I'm going to the show tomorrow. Thursday was killer. This is the second show in SF so based on how tings are going I expect to hear some more different tunes. maybe Kitty will come back and I'd love to hear anything from Greetings.....

correct.
68 different songs over 66 shows in 2023 [www.setlist.fm]

41 different songs over 5 shows in 2024 [www.setlist.fm]

so far, 4 songs done in 2024 had not yet been done in 2023

2024 rehearsals and soundchecks have seet some tantalizing rarities yet to debut

all of the eleven spring 2024 US shows are makeovers from 2023, except Vegas

Bruce played an active role as himself on recent episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm". Hilarious.

Been checking drops for Springsteen’s first LA show for 4/4 the past few days. Couldn’t resist pulling the trigger last night on a single located a few rows behind GA.

Bruce was in excellent form and set list was great; included a couple of rarities in Trapped and Jole Blon. (Only other show I’ve caught this tour was the Houston show in Feb 2023 and heard If I Were The Priest; can’t complain about the set lists in either concert.) Even had an appearance from Ms Scialfa, who came out for duet on Tougher Than The Rest and Fire.

I was on the fence whether or not to sell a pair I have for second show on Sunday, but will likely attend, as he seems to be shaking up the setlists as compared with 2023. Looks like the upcoming European leg starting next month should be worthwhile.

VERY nice to hear he will change the set “a lot more”. How many times I go in 2024 will depend on how much he changes it up. Saw 6 shows last year. MetLife 3 being the most diverse and it was great. The soul covers part can go. Momentum killer

I saw what I think was the only show on last tour without the soul covers. They weren't missed. We go "Trapped" instead which I'll take any time.

"Nightshift" was only omitted when Curtis King Jr. was ill. It happened twice. You caught a break there. winking smiley

As far as "Trapped" goes, 27 shows in all-time I'm still chasing that one. Hope to get it at one of my three shows this summer (Helsinki + Stockholm 2x)

My first show (Wembley '81) was the night he debuted it. I doubt anyone in the audience knew what it was. An unforgettable moment.

The first time he did it was the No Nukes concert I think.

No, it was 29th May 1981. 100%. He learned the song after buying a Jimmy Cliff cassette at Amsterdam airport before flying to the UK, worked up an arrangement and debuted it at his first London show.

Caught Trapped tonight at LA #1. Loved it.

Inserted early in opening sequence and thought it worked well there.

Trapped! Jealous.

32 song set last night as well.

Jole Blon apparently was a sign request.

Sierra Ferrell did an instore at Amoeba I didn't want to miss so I didn't get there until 7:25. Got in for $100 right before lights out.

The show is just chugging along at like a 7. Someone I know who has gone to hundreds of the shows since the 1970's says now he is good not great. Then after the duets with Patti, who never shows up anymore, he steps on the gas and takes it to a ten for the rest of the night. That's a the magic of a truly organic live performance.

He's made a few improvements since the last time I saw him. Now he's charging a fair price instead of running his tours as a charity case for spoiled and entitled boomers. And he's sticking to the hits with even the "deep cuts" mostly off albums that have sold millions so he can keep the crowd energy in tandem with the band's. But if he is releasing audio of everything on Nugs he should be live video streaming too so the people crying that they can't do 87 shows in the pit because he is finally charging what he is worth might cough up $39.99 to watch from home while crying he isn't doing 20 setlist changes each night.

[youtu.be]

Tempted to go again Sunday even if it's not really in the budget and will likely cost me a lot more.

Attended Night #2 (as well as Night #1). Highlight to me for #2 was the Morello guest appearance, especially Ghost of Tom Joad. (I mentioned to my wife after 41 Shots, who isn’t a big fan of electric guitar solos, that “It’s gonna get loud now” on the assumption that GOTJ was next…why bring out Morello for only one song?). Open All Night was a fun opener, and the other changes were good. The Patti segment seemed better than Night #1 as well. (Was hoping for Jungleland to be swapped for Thunder Road, but YCAGWYW…)

Hard to choose which night was better, and was happy to see The Boss still in top form. Worth the wait from the postponements last December…

Now, only a few weeks until we see the Stones in May. smileys with beer
