It's been a very conservative year but also there's been a lot going on this year. I managed to buy TWO 2015 LPs this year so by default, ha ha, the best albums of 2015 for me are...

Keith Richards CROSSEYED HEART (got the Best Buy bonus track edition)
Jason Isbell SOMETHING MORE THAN FREE

Saw them at The Fonda Theater front/center in Hollywood a couple weeks ago - best I've seen them in years. Great new album could have something to do with that. New drummer holds his own, playing flawlessly. ( RIP Jon Brookes)

Trivia - In case you were wondering why I added the UK...
Here in the States they were forced to add UK after their name so as not to be confused with the original Charlatans - a '60s psychedelic San Francisco band.

I love Bjork's album, Vulnicura.

Wilco's Star Wars is brilliant

Alabama Shakes' Sound and Color album is pretty excellent as well.

Heartless Bastards' latest album, Restless Ones is another great one.

Keith's Crosseyed Heart was among my favorite listens, of course!

I think those are my top 5. 2015 was a good year for new studio releases. Of course there were some nice live recordings from the Stones, and I like the latest Bootleg Series release from Dylan. Disappointments: I was really looking forward to My Morning Jacket's album, but it did not do much for me. Also Dan Auerbach's Arcs project was not as exciting as I wanted it to be. But I haven't completely given up on either of those just yet. Maybe I'll come around.

I guess it means I'm middle aged and set in my ways, but I really don't listen to much current music anymore. I did take a look at Rolling Stones best fifty list and have to confess...I'm not familiar with most of the albums on the list. My pop culture daughter is crazy for all things Adele and my teen son, the budding white suburban hip hop artist, is thrilled that the brillance of Kendrick Lamar has been recognized. So if they're happy, I'm happy...I can say that I've heard that new Keith Richards album and I like it very much. grinning smiley
