OT: Eddie Izzard tour

Eddie Izzard is playing some Uk dates next year. But not a tour, it's a whole month in London only. What's wrong with other major cities so fans don't have to travel so far? I don't live in Scotland but if I did I might have to take two days off work in order to see the gig, one day to travel there and one day back. Plus a hotel overnight. And food, drink, etc. And I might want to take my wife. And the tickets are over £70 for best seats, cheaper if you take binoculars. So what might that lot add up to, travel, hotel, tix, and possibly loss of two days pay. Possibly a grand to see Eddie Izzard. I ain't paying it. I thought he was a socialist with consideration for the regular guy but it seems that it's the fans that have to shell out while he sleeps in his own bed every night and saves the cost of touring.

At least the Stones move around a bit...

Yeah but here's the thing: you can skip all that work and money AND you get the benefit of not seeing Eddie Izzard! Its a win-win from my perspective. No hassle, and you're 100% sure Eddie Izzard is nowhere around. Thats a fun day for everyone!

At school, one English teacher was obsessed with Eddie Izzard. Any opportunity, and she'd proclaim, 'God, he's magnificent'

Even though I'm an Izzard fan, I had to laugh at this. grinning smiley

But anyway--hey, in the US and elsewhere, people travel hundreds of miles to see artists, it's just the way it is. I haven't been to a show in the last 30 years that hasn't involved an overnight stay. So, yeah, it's expensive and that sucks, but that's just a fact of life, unfortunately.

My sister saw Eddie Izzard here in Victoria 2 years ago. I don't remember there being talk of outrageous ticket prices back then

He's a transvestite comedian. I hear he's sort of Monty Python-ish in style
