Seeing the the tour starts two weeks from tomorrow. I think during the Licks tour it was on august 16 and the tour didn't start to sept. 3.

I was just thinking about this. Will there be a surpise gig....remember the one they attempted in Boston and was denied because of potential riots. Was that the 81 tour?

ill say the 14th on the east coast ,,maybe boston or N.Y.

In '97 the surprise show was only 5 days before opening night.

1981 they played a small club in Worcester Ma. called Sir Morgans cove about a week before they opened in Philly. It held about 300 people. A local radio station started handing out free tickets that morning to any car that had a bumper sticker from that station.

Of course there's gonna be a suprise gig.
So keep your Knickers down, and your Thumbs crossed.
But to make it a suprise - they won't tell ya in advance^^

they already played it - it was such a suprise that nobody came....

The Stones are freakin' coz they want it kept a secret
but thru due process of elimination, I think a lot of
fans here have already figured it out. If the Stones
figure that everyone already knows, and starts lining
up at the club early, the Stones may panic
and pull out, so nobody wants to say.

In 99' they had no club gig...

Ok...before some of you flip out...they didn't have a club warm-up gig. They planned one for the Filmore...& it never happened.

Rule No: 1.
The Stones never panic.
If they figure somewhat out - it 'd better be a riff
If they get to know there's a bigger crowd than usual, expected - then rule No:1
comes in account

FYI 99 No Security was not a new stand-alone tour really it was an add-on between BtB I and II due to the delayed UK shows.

That is true...but the set-list was new & they did rehearse at the Filmore (where we first met ). A gig was planned (have seen the printed pics for it), but word got out & the boys pulled back. It was a shame, but No Security was HOT! While being an add-on, it was completely different from the BtB US tour. The set-list, the venues, everything...even got it's own CD while BtB got the DVD (No Security was going to have a DVD...they filmed the last 2 San Jose gigs...but it never came out).

yeah but that show (at the Double Door in Chicago) was the SECOND warm up show

They played one at the Horseshoe tavern in Toronto on september 4th - 19 days before the tour

1981 - 11 days before the tour
1989 - 19 days
1994 - 13 days
1997 - 19 days
2002 - 18 days

By that yardstick and using an average of the above 5 figures, I work it out that this year's surprise warm up show already took place last Friday
