Not sure how you conclude get that.....a minor point of parsing the opening lyrics to Thunder Road....the 1st of 8 cuts on the record Born to Run which was released 40 years ago today...seems to be more an issue with your reading comprehension as opposed to where the forum has gone....

Jock rock???? Ummm...methinks not. There may have been any number of dumbas* athletically inclined young men and women who identified with Springsteen's sound and words back then, but, I would venture, they just got off on the sound and fury of Springsteen's music and shows back then like a number of us did with the sound and fury of the Stones back in their more youthful days. Jock rock, to me, would be Skynrd, ZZ Top, Guns and Poses and similar.

I bought the 78-85 live box back in the day and the only songs I liked were the covers ("War" or "Raise Your Hand").
Okay I subsequently learnt to like "Because The Night" "Rosie" or "Adam..." but ùmost of Brooce own material...
Tell me doctor what's wrong with me?

Where's "I'm pulling outta here to win"? That is the most definitive statement of Thunder Road if that is the song we are talking a about. We all know the best lyric of Born to Run
