Cool. Thanks for that. He sure got off the Stones topic quick. This was the height of Mick's Solo career IMO.

Does anyone else think his ear lobes look kinda weird in this interview?

Yeah, the Stones question in the end seemed to be a real downer for him. Of all questions, he didn't want that one...

Indeed thank you for that tidbit.

Mick Jagger... man, he is the coolest ever or what? even with the mullet.

And somehow my admiration for the man went even higher after seeing the live Stones shows this past summer, and hearing how great he still does what he does, and considering all that he done, for so long, it is pretty damned amazing. Jagger is pretty damned amazing.

Love the sunglasses in the mouth posing at the beginning. That was really fun to watch. Interesting how Mick was not interested in discussing the Stones. Shut that one down right away. "Hopefully out in the fall." Nope. If I recall, Harlem Shuffle was released at the Grammys in Feb, and DW was released like a month and a half later. I remember it seemed like eons. Not a super time for the Stones organization, M+K, and of course Charlie Watts was having a tough time supposedly. Plus, Mick was probably still trying to promote She's The Boss, right? He did a couple tunes from the album in his set that day. It had only been 6 months since it had come out. Anyway, fun clip there, thanks for posting! :^)

Interview subjects almost always look at the interviewer most of the time, but Mick often—not just here—looks at the camera, too (not vainly, but as though the camera/audience is a second interviewer).

When i was 20 years old in 85' i thought Mick looked old at Live Aide
Now Im 50 looking at a 42 year old Mick in that interview, and he looks sooo young
Age is all relative, i wonder how old Mick looks to a 20 year old today
Funny that you never hear people commenting on how old or ugly or wasted any of the Stones look any more
Very strange lol

Sounds like "Led Zeppelin" was performing during this interview?

Lucky In Love was the newest single he had out, which was in May, and he was in the middle of working on the Hard Woman video production. And sure enough, 3 days after Live Aid the Stones got back to work.

Led Zep were great, Jimmy was completely out of it, but still played great
I think led Zep were the only band who refused to have their performance allowed on the DVD release, because of technical problems , allegedly

Yes, yes, however, it sounded like they were playing during this interview.

At first I thought it was just music between sets but then I could hear Plants voice in its... weirdness that day break through.

Yes, even though Mick says he's watching the end of Phil Collins during the interview I hear the guitar licks of Rock and Roll at about 02:07.

Phil played with Zeppelin. So he was watching Collins smiling smiley

Well he said he was watching the end of Phil Collins and Rock and Roll was the first tune in Zeppelins set. Phil's solo set was right before Zeppelins that day.

you ve got a point. Keith was cool in the 70s. Mick too but mick has nrver really been about coolness but bravery - he was brave when going on tour in 1975 changing their image in1978 and 1981. He doesnt care about being cool. I think. He can come off as boring and down to earth. He doesnt care because he is the star. He did care when brian was cool and alive though.

Man, Mick was NOT pleased with the Stones question.

That day marked the single lowest point in the history of the Rolling Stones in my opinion.

No, that was when Mick sent the fax to Keith, saying that he wouldn't work with him again.

Yeah, that's definitely worse than Brian and Stu dying.

Well he did say they were getting ready to record a new album. That kind of news these days would be greeted with considerable enthusiasm. Considering how the record turned out though, perhaps it was a low point. winking smiley

These were the wasted Stones years
It was the lowest saddest point in the Stones history as far as i am concerned
Brian had already been sacked when he died remember
They (The Stones ) should of rehearsed a killer set for Live Aid that would have created so much good publicity for future tours and record sales
But Mick and Keith's fall out was really bad
I remember an interview with Mick near the time in the Daily Mirror, he said at that point no matter what idea he threw at Keith, Keith just threw it aside and would dismiss it
Mick gets most the blame for WW3 but i guess Keith's ego became too great for his own good at that point

Hey we'll have no Keith bashing by you Mick lovers man! winking smiley

But seriously it seems these kind of squabbles all come down to a power struggle. I think the idea that Keith was finally coming out of his heroin cocoon and starting to exert some control at all was a difficult situation for Mick to handle after a decade of being on top of the control issue. Keith's heavy drinking at the time and Mick's relative sobriety probably didn't help matters.

I have to disagree....Keith was certainly not cool in the 70s.
Being a full time addict is not being cool, whoever you are.
