It's not some damn line starting with He'll (heel) is it?

...or is it Flip-flop, fit to drop?

The latter, Green Lady. Well done!

BTW, do i detect a hint of exasperation in your response? I'd be grateful for any reply as to whether or not my clue is considered fair now that the answer has been revealed.
I believe flip-flops are generally known by that name in English-speaking countries.
"Fit" is as in Fitting Room where you try on clothes and, hopefully, to lose your grip speaks for itself.

Exasperation with one's own inability to see the obvious is the normal state of clue-solvers (or this one, anyway). No criticism of the setter is intended. And flip-flops definitely go by that name around here.

Yayy yayy - I knew Green Lady would get it!

And I don't see anything unfair about the clue either.

Well, since Olly's AWOL... here's mine:

Your friendship puts me in a negative state of need that feels positive; I am unable to purify my hypodermic blue passages of my second-person foe.

An 80s Stones original.

Good luck to all! drinking smiley

Is it...

"Your love is a sweet addiction
I can't clean you out of my veins"?

Here's one:

The confession of a city with too little traffic?

Re: 'Which Lyric Am I?'
Posted by: Harlem Shuffler ()
Date: November 7, 2015 22:30

Is it...
"Life's just a cocktail party on the street, Big Apple"?

Re: 'Which Lyric Am I?'

Long hot as usual:

I killed a man, I'm highway bound
The wheel of fortune keeps turning round
Turning round, turning round
I should have known it was a one horse town

No and no, Harlem & Natural! But those are both insightful and witty answers -
so keep on just like that and you'll win armfuls of confetti

Re: 'Which Lyric Am I?'

"People dressed in plastic bags, directin' traffic"?

No, no... that can't be right... how is that a confession?

"I hope you didn't record any of this""No I didn't"

Ok another dart at the target here:

I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield
Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station

Yayy, you're all on the right album! Wrong tracks - but amazingly well done!

The answer is only one line, and your aim should be a little more toward the cryptic side :E

Ya know... you can't shuffle through the street if cars are going by... get it?

I do get it, BreakingBlues, and am impressed! It's not the line, though ...

If BreakingBlues' answer is wrong, dare I ask if we're talking about the original album rather than the reissue? Well, I can ask but you don't have to answer.

Re: 'Which Lyric Am I?'
Posted by: BreakingBlues ()

If it were a song from the reissue, perhaps:

"Why do I have to sell my Cadillac that I just paid for"?

EDIT: Or perhaps, more likely: "I've walked for miles, my feet are hurtin'"?

"I hope you didn't record any of this""No I didn't"

Sometimes I feel so abandoned?????

Re: 'Which Lyric Am I?'

Wow, don't you just love the Rolling Stones?
A clue or two ago I was enchanted by all the footwear they mention - who knew?!
And now look at all the streets, all on one album + reissue.

But nope, it's not on the reissue - it's right there on the original.
And there's no street in the answer. It's cryptic! And question-marked!
You'll want to slap me upside the head when you find the solution!

A confession that's also a question. You're certainly getting your own back, with sssoul!

Re: 'Which Lyric Am I?'

"Am I rough enough?"

or

"What's the matter with you, boy?"

"I hope you didn't record any of this""No I didn't"

Re: 'Which Lyric Am I?'

Well, it's not also a question - a question mark in cryptic crosswords that I'm accustomed to
means it's kind of a play on words, most likely a silly one that makes you feel like slapping the puzzle-setter :E

I'm going to sleep now, so here's an extra clue: What do cities with lots of traffic have?
This confession confesses the opposite.

Re: 'Which Lyric Am I?'

Cities with lots of traffic have
-Cars
-Traffic jams (what's the opposite of a traffic jam? confused smiley)
-Lots of people
-Wasted time

I don't know... it can't be "I ran twenty red lights"... well, maybe it can, since it doesn't mention a street???

"I hope you didn't record any of this""No I didn't"

The confession of a country with too little traffic?

In the cold light of day this clue isn't as good as I thought it was so let's get it out of the way ASAP.

It's a line from the original issue of Some Girls and refers to approximately half of the country's population.
