Best? What's the criteria for making the selection? List something tangible rather than "Ooohh it makes me all tingly" or "MT is a god." Otherwise you are just stating your own preference, not the best.

If not Stones, it´s gotta be a Hungarian one:
I´m choosing between "Tepd El Az Idöt" by Dinamit (1981),
"Szvít, 5. tétel, A Hetedik Napon" with Omega (1973) or
"Gyöngyhájú Lány" with the latter (1969).
But we´d better throw in "When A Blind Man Cries" with DP too.
For the moment I´m fond of "Juliette" with Little Feat, but I
dont know if it´s an All-Time one.

Otherwise its "Hate It When You Leave", "All About You",
or "Angie".

Summary: It seems like 1973 was a good year for ballads (when I judge).
I have picked three songs from that year here, out of eight. Then counting Feat.

Don't wanna miss a thing was written by the lady that writes hits for the Backstreet Boys and Britney spears. Which is embarressing in my opinion.

If you're talking about a lamenting-type song,
it's Dylan's Shooting Star. An absolutely beautiful song from
start to finish. And Dylan's Ring Them Bells is probably
one of the greatest songs of the last 25 years.
