I went to Paris,Rome and Madrid

All three were amazing but being right at the front of the stage in Madrid was a very special experience.

Nate thumbs up

What does "quite off" mean to you? Only thing that occured to me as "quite off" was Mick leaving out a verse to Brown Sugar

His soloing on Honky Tonk Women and him missing verses on Can't Be Seen.

Every version of Can't Be Seen in 2014 was messed up that way. Thought it was the running gag.

Listen to Keith's vocal-spot coming in at point 58.55. Oh, wait... winking smiley

So you've established that Keith would need glasses to read the teleprompter properly. Still, with most CBS renditions being kinda like that, surely it doesn't effect the overall ranking of shows too much.

I hope we're not feeling a little defensive on behalf on behalf of Mr. Richards, here! No, a Stones show is nearly always nothing less than superb; warts and all! It is a superbly shot video, I must say.

Obviously the one you attended. Only people who went to multiple shows can really say with any credibility, imo. Just too much happening at a show too compare them to recordings.

A separate question, "which show recordings are best" might produce some different answers.

peace

I try to cut The Man some slack when it comes to playing and singing at the same time. Because that little lyric blackout was preceded by a sharply executed fill.
I've listened back to the HTW solo and see what you're talking about. Keith has 2 ways of hitting the wrong key: either he realizes it immediately and moves to the right fret.
Or he hammers out the entire phrase wrong while looking oblivious. Thankfully in Düsseldorf most mistakes were just glitches of the first kind.

Anyway here's the full Düsseldorf concert in glorious HD (compiled by Falo) and uploaded on yt by me:

Indeed it's a great video. But it also showcases the problem with todays audience recorded boots, the picture quality is much better than the audio quality. We need soundboards from each show to be sold online, so all these HD videos gets audio in equal quality!

Absoloutly Paris

Stockholm.. Even though the setlist was rather predictable, just watch JJ Flash and Midnight Rambler on YouTube from that concert and you will understand what I mean. Without hesitation the best version of MR during the tour. I agree that Dusseldorf was a fantastic show aswell.

The ones I did, ranked;

1. Pinkpop
2. Paris
3. Düsseldorf
4. Werchter
5. Stockholm
6. Berlin (overrated because of the setting... that exact same show somewhere else wouldn't be so loved)
7. Oslo

Have you been to all those gigs?

Yes, that was an expensive month and a half. But completely worth it, of course.

Of the shows I saw :

1. Stockholm : Extremely long and very good MR, though mediocre setlist.

2. Paris : Great venue, huge 76,000 crowd, very hot day and good atmosphere. The band had certainly tightened up a bit since Oslo. Also travelled without a ticket to this sold out show and bought a face value spare from someone I'd met queueing for the Oslo show.

3. Oslo : A fair few goofs - Keith messing up 'Can't be Seen' horribly - he seemed to get stuck on the same chord on repeat for an uncomfortable length of time until Ronnie rescued him. Mick flew out of the traps like he had something to prove - don't forget this was soon after his personal tragedy.

Poorest venue of the 3 with a bit of echo and almost certainly the loudest Stones gig of my lifetime 21 shows. The Telenor is hot and sweaty. Ventilation is very poor and needs to be addressed - I saw several people being taken away for fainting.

However that all said, by far I enjoyed Oslo the most due to 1st night of tour excitement, queueing all day and getting front row on the catwalk podium, some great hanging out and meeting IORRians everywhere I went, Bjornulf included!

Loved all 3 cities, with Oslo & Stockholm being 1st time visits. I'm going to both again in a couple of weeks!

Paris, Madrid and Berlin. Adelaide was quite nice. Great Ramblers in all of them. No more BK after Europe 14 (RIP) but Karl has held his own.

Lets see how far this thing can go...KR

Thanks.

Was the Stockholm MR really better than the Roskilde version? For me, the latter was rock history.

Well Düsseldorf was best performancewise. Berlin wins hands down for scenery and band interplay atmosphere.

I only went to Werchter last year, but it was one of the better shows I saw. Especially compared to Nijmegen 2007, the show I attended before...

I saw 5 of the Australian shows and Sydney was up there in the top 5 I've ever seen (out of 18 in total since 99).
Perth 2 was exceptional too.

I chime in with Dusseldorf too. Zurich, Berlin, Pinkpop, Paris were the others I attended and in favorite order. Cheers.

Paris was awesome. The sound was incredible. Lisbon was great too but it was better to see them on their own stage.
