Rehearsed but never played songs -89/90

I read that Rip This Joint was rehearsed but never played. Are there any information about other rehearsed songs that never made it to the set list?

It's a shame they don't play If You Can't Rock Me more often. I really enjoyed it in 2003. Great song to mix up the set list.

Cheers,

I remember Bill speaking in an MTV-documentary of the Steel Wheels Tour. Saying they rehearsed 60 songs for the tour in 89/90.

And i've always wondered if they rehearsed Emotional Rescue in 1981. Should have been tried out. It was actually the fist single from an album released the year before the tour.

Really? I didn't know that. I guess that makes sense, very simple song that's easy to warm up with. I sometimes warm up with it myself, but it gets old really quick, just playing that simple riff over and over. I love the studio version, and the '75 versions with Get Off Of My Cloud, but recent live versions are boring to me. The studio version had very slick production, the early live versions were very fast and energetic, but if they play it today it's just a very bland open G 3 chord riff and might be the 3rd or 4th song played that night that talks about rock/rocking. Only AC/DC talks about rocking more, when they're not talking about their balls. It's OK I guess, kind of campy and fun, but not their most meaningful lyrics. IORR being the exception to that though, great lyrics.

2012 and some stuff from 2013/2014 were posted in the rehearsal threads.

Mid July - 11th August: Washington, Connecticut, Wykeham Rise Girl’s School.
1989 Steel Wheels tour-rehearsals. Apart from the songs played on the tour, the Stones rehearsed
(all unverified):
- Route 66 (Bobby Troup)
- Moonlight Mile (MJ/KR)
- Factory Girl (MJ/KR) (although this was played in 1990...
- Lady Jane (MJ/KR)
+ more
Note: According to a rumour, on the last days of rehearsals the Stones played a complete set through opened doors for the people outside and neighbours.

Also, Shattered was played on the first night in Philadelphia but dropped after that "because the power cut out" and Keith saw it as a bad omen...(So I read....

Well I can easily imagine Moonlight Mile including an Matt Clifford keyboardstrings outro. But they should have played Lady Jane instead of Play With Fire.

I'm not sure how many times they attempted Play With Fire during the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle tour, but the released rendition shows the group in fine form. Lady Jane is, in my opinion, a somewhat overrated track, whilst Play With Fire is a marvellous little gem from that now forgotten age of the terrific B-side.

Both were great, imo. No reason for not trying them out again.

Although played now and again, here's my recording of parts of Worried About You from the Oslo production rehearsals.
