Ronnie Wood Signature L5S is out now
Posted by: Phil Good ()
Date: March 13, 2015 17:45

We've seen Ronnie playing this guitar on stage for quite a while now.
It's out now for sale.
What do you guitar geeks think of it?

And just for the record: I'm not affiliated with this or any other dealer
in any way.

Here's the link:

video about the guitar. Seems like a nice guitar to play. Although that is hard to say only by looking at pictures and videos. ..

It's a shame they didn't make a single pickup version available.

Not a big fan of signature guitars in general. Generally overpriced and there seems to be way too many of them.

It looks nice but for $5500 I'm sure I could find four other guitars that sound and play just as good.

peace

Interesting that, as of my posting this, this guitar doesn't register on Gibson's home site. Nice looking guitar, but a bit pricey. Here's a link I found re Mister Wood on Gibson's site re his playing style.

I could go without the gold hardware. Anyway, that guitar looks really good!!

More intersting are these: "Custom wound Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups are manufactured to Mr. Wood's specification"

Wonder what Ronnie wanted them to use and how to wind 'em up here...

I also would like to campare that sound against an standart L5S with Standart Humbuckers...

This is what the original Gibson L5S (introduced in 1972) looked like:

This thread has more pics of Ronnie and Keith with L5S and L6S guitars:

I like it, and it's a great player due to the slim body. Personally I would have prefered just one bridge pickup and no neck pickup, and nickel hardware.

Concerning the price: Gibson has increased prices of their entire range with 20% to 40%. The strategy is to earn more money by selling less instruments (thus lower costs) against a higher price (hence bigger margin). The retail price of a standard Les Paul now is $3800, and of a R59 $8600....

I expect the second hand market to roar!

I registered that Ronnie had a new guitar last year in Stockholm. Since when is he using it i.e. was it this one?

Don't like the song that much - especially the vocals actually - but he did a great job on Clockface by Siouxsie & The Banshees. Great and underrated contribution.

Siouxsie & The Banshees I saw in concert sometime in 1977 in London. They and Generation X was the main numbers that night. thumbs up

Best of all, I get to play it with Ronnie's pick that landed at my feet on the rail during Satisfaction in Sydney.

I am envious! When Siouxsie used to wear a swastika. Sure she was a Nazi.

Can I just talk about my favourite band and make some harmless jokes without being accused of "contaminating threads"? Thanks.

Yes. Sheesh, why did this become a thread about punks ...

It would have even been okay to talk about swastikas in punk aesthetics.
Only you didn't wanna leave it at that...

I read that this Ronnie Wood signature model is a limited run of 300 guitars--of which 50 are signed by Ronnie Wood. (I believe I read this on premierguitar.com).

Having never seen one or played one - I can't comment as to the value/cost relationship.

The Ronnie Wood ESP B-Bender's are particularly hard to find. As is any guitar equipped with an actual Parsons-White bender system (the original and best).

I don't mind the occasional OT-post, but this was clearly set up to arrive at the comment about the swastica.
