OT: New Bob Dylan video

Bob's take on film noir with a cut from his new album. It's out there, in there and very cool, IMHO. Would love to see the Stones do some videos of their songs doing something similar in terms of a mini-movie. Enjoy.

Good stuff, though Undercover of the Night was a pretty funny mini-movie.

That's the fourth Dylan video directed by Nash Edgerton. I wrote a story about one of their earlier collaborations, on Behind Here Lies Lies Nothin'.

You liked it, but not anymore? I only saw the FOLLOWING THE RIVER video three or five times, but I like the song still.
FOLLOWING THE RIVER is a modern day classic by THE ROLLING STONES.
Just like KEEP UP BLUES, DOOM & GLOOM, PLUNDERED MY SOUL, ROUGH JUSITICE, WHEN YOU'RE GONE, LAUGH I NEARLY DIED and ONE MORE SHOT.drinking smiley

Do you all really like it?! I mean, the idea of a noir movie is ok, but the story is very weak. Quite cold also regarding the song..there is something about Dylan Sinatra or Tony Bennet way that not convinces me. I know that my opinion won't be very popular, but what can I do?

I wonder what sort of reception Dylan would have gotten at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival if he'd tried this then--showed up with an electric sound and a set of Sinatra covers. I also wonder what Sinatra thought of Dylan, as a singer, though I would doubt he ever thought of Dylan at all. This album shows that nostalgia is not just a phenomenon that exists among music fans, but also among musicians themselves--trouble is, when someone Dylan's age gets nostalgic over the music of their lives, the result is something that predates rock n roll.

Perhaps the Sinatra songs just need some updated lyrics....

You made it all the way through one listen? That's endurance.

I liked the video but I also enjoy Film Noir and Black and White films. The video
Fits the feel of the song. Bob looks good in the film. I only watched it once but
was surprised the film had very little to do with the song. At first watch it
Apears to be simply a noir film and not really corrograhed to the music. Again
I only watched it once.

Sinatra, which singer he wanted to perform at one of his later birthday parties (75th? 80th) chose Bob Dylan.

They both like(d) each other a lot.

Awful video. I like Dylan a lot, but the video is just kid's stuff in my opinion. Pathetic

According to Frank, Jr., Dylan and Sinatra were good friends with Dylan occasionally calling and asking for Frank's advice on things.

I didn't care for this Dylan album but I do really like the video. A ninety-minute film noire boiled down to three minutes.
