I'm not sure what the whole piece of dialog is but Blues & Roots is the title of a 1960 Mingus album.
So I think Keith's "That's what I know about Charlie" is referring to Mingus, not Watts -
maybe as if to say that's the Mingus record he's most familiar with?

So that's where the roots and blues comes from! But have you ever heard anybody call Charles Mingus "Charlie"? Seems a bit familiar, even for Keith. I'm thinking maybe there was some brush work on the drumming to that record, which influenced Charlie, and Keith may be referring to his knowledge of that influence on Charlie. Also that fact that he looks rather lovingly at Charlie when he says it makes me think it's Watts he's talking about. But it's all rather speculative... peace

Yep. And I really do think "that's what I know about Mingus" is what he means,
and he knows it thanks to Charles Watts enthusing frequently and at length about the brushes on Blues & Roots.
He looks lovingly at Charles Watts because he enjoys to look lovingly at Charles Watts -
well and because he knows he needs forgiveness for not being more familiar with Mingus's oeuvre.
That's my interpretation.
