The inside of Black and Blue. Albeit, a t-shirt, that's one. I am sure pictures exist.

Not sure that I've ever seen one with Bob and Keith. A few of Mick with Marley and Tosh and Ronnie joining Bob onstage in Oakland but only ones of Keith and Peter Tosh (and many other reggae artists) that I've seen.

I was watching the Bob Marley movie on Palladia the other day and was intrigued by his life and music. Over the years I watched and listened from a distance, not ever "into" his music. Can someone recommend to me your choice of his greatest studio album and his greatest live album, please. Is there a general consensus as to which would albums would be recommended?
Thanks.

All his records are great but if I had to pick a couple to recommend they would be Survival and Babylon by Bus. As far as my favorite live track it has to be No Woman, No Cry although there are many close seconds. I didn't get Bob Marley at first listen, had a roommate who played him constantly, then one day it just hit me like a ton of bricks and I've loved him ever since. Jah Rastafari

I'd go with double disk set of "Catch a Fire" & the 1st Bob Marley & Wailers live ....

Most all of Bob Marley's albums have appeal,

A good way is to go to the big box store, get a low-price Bob Marley tin of 3 cds, a lot of music, some recording is not top-notch but it makes up for it in authenticity. The Tuff Gong era, the very early stuff, "Soon Come", "Stop that train", "Soul Shakedown" etc..

Or go with about any other album by him, studio, live or compilation.

Peter Tosh was a main-member of the Wailers band before the band became more about Bob Marley.

"Burnin'" with "I shot the sheriff" or "Get up, Stand up" is good as are most any of the other albums, you can barely go wrong.

I think "Rastaman Vibration" and "Kaya" aren't that strong but my friend loves the latter so you never know.

All Music Guide's discography.

"Survival" is one release I have bought a few times, I have always liked that along with his other "last albums", Uprising and so on, "Confrontation", the posthumous release.

Lastly, remember, reggae is fairly expansive, Bob Marley is the best known artist but others have done the music well too.

Not for beginners, but one that I love is a compilation, Rock to The Rock, the complete Wailers 67-72

What goes around comes around is a dance floor killer!

I've got sympathy with this argument (particularly the Lee Perry cuts) but I'd widen it to any original Wailers album. Post Peter and Bunny Bob Made many great records, and the I threes were fab, but something went missing.

Get this, a great show from Germany 1980. Sound is 7 out of 10,
but a great document with a great German crowd:

Not OT as I mention this show earlier. Thanks for post not a great film but has a touch of history with Bob & Ronnie.

Judging by these pics they were together more than once.

If just starting out go with this box set that spans his career and then broaden out based on the album songs you like most. There are a lot of packages that say greatest hits and whatever but a lot of those are very early recordings and more for a diehard fan than a beginner. I agree that Babylon By Bus is the best official live release but many of his concerts can be found online.

Hey mighty stork, you seem to be a prolific photo guy, maybe you can come up with a picture of Keith with Bob Marley for latcho? If you can't do it, it probably doesn't exist. smoking smiley peace

Richards produced the Max Romeo album which I always thought was pretty good off of Shanachie Records, Max Romeo was part of the famous reggae band, The Upsetters.

Album Richards produced:

Jordi Stones, photobucket, a member maybe. [s38.photobucket.com] Interesting site.

Max Romeo seems to still be touring.

Keith with Robbie Shakespeare....

Never heard of Maxie Smith being a member of Upsetters.
He started out a member of the Emotions BUT after leaving
the group he was actually given the name of Max Romeo by Lee Perry

Robbie Shakespeare indeed it looks like. Good for you to point out. A blog in Brazilian discusses. And Pinterest affirms it is Robbie Shakespeare.

The ebay link shows the back-photo of Richards and surely, Romeo:

Richards in the leopard pattern...I couldn't get the photo to transfer over, back of the album.

No that's producer of the album Geoffrey Chung with Keith

I was about to say:

This is Chung.

Okay, got it, two different back covers but BOTH are of Chung.

I do see too, that it was Max Romeo AND the Upsetters, so one could say he is accompanying them, not necessarily a part of them. It starts to get confusing to get into the details.

"Bob was geared for it -- whatever sacrifices he had to make, he was determined to make those sacrifices." <LI>Keith Richards, on first hearing The Wailers: "There's definitely a buzz in there -- and you can't keep me away from a buzz ... 'Catch a Fire' caught fire, and Bob just basically exploded."

I found this on internet, but i don't know wat it realy means.
