I don't have the full numbers, but here an example:
#1 Taylor Swift (244,000)
#2 Nicki Minaj (59,000)
#16 Iggy Azalea (29,000)
#30 Beyonce (18,000)
#33 AC/DC (17,000)
#51 Eminem (12,000)
#96 Kenny Chesney (8,000)
#111 Slipknot (7,000)
Hot Rocks must be around 4,000 or 5,000 copies.

From what I've been reading lately downloading has been on its way out as a majority way of consuming music. Streaming services have grown incredibly. Which makes sense since youtube can be used for playing specific songs and Pandora can play things that sound like and so on.
There will be another shift at some point I think - back to quality. Don't count the CD out yet.

The CD record... CD album... the digital hard copy long player... the compact disc... the variable speed sound maker...

I recall years ago when DVD came out that Capitol Records was going to reissue Garth Brooks' entire catalog... on DVD, with access to the album, extra tracks, images and videos.
That never happened. But it's possible to do that now with Blu-ray. From what I understand one Blu-ray can hold essentially a box set's worth of music on it.
However, it seems pointless due to online technology for storage, streaming, etc and besides, if you scratch the disc...

Unfortunately, the market has shown that people rarely re-purchase music just because it has better sound quality.
But, my guess is the most popular music format of the future will be lossless downloads, .flac, Apple or whatever. The cost and availability of cheap storage should have made .mp3's obsolete long ago!
I am surprised high quality DVD audio never took off, I loved it. Funnily, Neil Young blames it on the women who run most households not wanting to sacrifice furniture space for speakers for the 5.1 surround that DVD audio highlighted.

Any idea - I know HOT ROCKS is the biggest selling Stones release of all Stones issued material - in what order Stones comps rank in terms of sales? HOT ROCKS is obviously their most known hits comp. I wonder how the rest rank. People I know of tend to think of HOT ROCKS, MADE IN THE SHADE and REWIND as the 3 hits comps the Stones have, most unaware of all the others!

Georgelicks, you had a thread somewhere - at least I think you did - that listed album sales for the Stones... any idea where it is or what it's called? I did a search and nothing came up.
Anyway, it's nice to see those numbers. Would be great to see comps and albums sales of everything.
