Who's the Stones' Announcer?
Posted by: StonedRambler ()

'Lady's and Gentleman - would you please welcome..
..the Rolling Stones'

The beginning of every stones concert..
But who says it?
Is it someone of the stones backing musicans - Chuck?
Or an assistant, maybe Matt Clifford?

Does anybody know something about the announcer?

Which tour? I think the '81-82 tour it was Bill Graham and I always thought it was Mick doing a lot of the early years.

As mighty stork notes it's not the same announcer (or announcement!) every tour.
It was Sam Cutler in 1969 (the greatest rock & roll band in the world);
Mick in 1978 (from England - the Rolling fokking Stones); Bill Graham in 1981/82;
Michael Cohl introduced some shows between 1989 and 2007, but not all of them had announcers/announcements.
And I don't think they had any announcers at all in 2012-2014, except maybe at the club/theater shows.

Didn't Sam Cutler did it well into the 70's, too?
(I Never knew in 1978 Mick did it himself, btw.)

There is a shot a the beginning of Sweet Summer Sun when the Stones hit the stage in HydePark 2013 you see Matt Clifford on the right with microphone ready to announce. It's the shot when you see the Stones' backsides heading to the stage.

Who did Get Yer Ya Ya's Out? I always thought that was Mick doing like four different introduction tracks. Or was that whole intro concocted in the studio when they did the album?

You're right - I misread your post and see you already mentioned him. I was talking about Licks. That Charlie thing is getting to my head. Sorry about that.

At Madrid in June 2014, had a chat to Matt less than half hour before his announcement, in the FOS stage left area.
He was just getting the audience perspective at the time.
Sonoko and Andreea, zgubi , also had a chat to him.

A very nice guy. thumbs up
