Are we all speaking English here?!?!

Proper and/or slang English yes. At least we're trying to be proper aren't we?

The most treacherous one for Brits visiting the US is "Can I bum a fag?"..................

Or 'pinching a fag', I vaguely remember Ronnie saying that in some interview (it's in their 'First Twenty Years' book).

In an old interview, Mick says to the interviewer (maybe David Frost), "May I pinch one of your fags"?

Going for shock value, I think.

Mick often went for the shock, like in 1978...

"Sorry if the band isn't playing too well tonight -- they were up all last night, f*cking" --Mick Jagger, 7/18/78

THAT must have got the ladies (and gents) thinking...!

[Sigh] Missing Cindy C and what she'd have to say about all this.

Angee has her own thread regarding her book here: [www.iorr.org]

If you have comments or feedback, I'm sure Angee would find it to be of interest. I made my comments about the book in general on that thread.

I was interested in the specific issues of sexuality and feminism vis the Stones. Before I started this thread I consulted Angee and she has contributed to it. Kindly review matters more closely in future before providing your criticism. Thank you.

Much appreciated, Stoneage, for the original topic, no doubt, could use more reactions, comments!
(See [www.iorr.org])

STG thought this thread related to issues brought up in the book, for people who have read
the book or not.

Elmo, thanks for asking! Definitely, *yes*, there's a real chance for signed copies.
If I had the names, I could personalize them. I sent you an email on the logistics.

There's bound to be occasional overlap between the two topics, hope that's okay, STG.
This one is trending at the moment. cool smiley

One thing I thought was interesting is when Terry Gross of NPR's show "Fresh Air"
interviewed Keith after his book Life came out. She brought up the issue of sexism
in some of the lyrics and Keith said something like come on, Terry, let's not go there.

Then at the end of the interview, she told him it was nice having him on the show,
and he said, "Hey Terry. Thank you very much. Nice try, honey." She laughed. She included this
closing exchange on a feature broadcast at the end of 2014 called "Awkwrd and Funny Fresh Air
Thank Yous" ever on Fresh Air:

Keith, Terry Gross and other guests saying goodbye
Keith's is the first one.

Cool story Angee's - thanks! Even Keith wasn't tough enough to "go there."

I'm sure copies of your book have been rolling into various of our homes in recent days. Anybody have more to say on this, or on Angee's thread? [www.iorr.org]

Even into the 80s, MTV cut the pants-buttons-bursting-off-the-studio-executive's-trousers bit from the She was Hot video (just before Charlie's entrance as the talent agent).
