Super great set list to conclude the Australian tour!!!!!!!
Thanks everybosdy again for all the comments & piks!!

Great set list with all things considered.

They could have gone with "Let's Spend the Night Together" instead of "You Got Me Rocking" and included some newer material less than 20 years old as well as another ballad besides "You Got the Silver".

I'll take it,though .... because of "Silver Train" with Taylor.

"Silver Train" makes up for any shortcomings with the rest of the set list.

I remember on the Stones live blog, the Koala was handed to him by his guitar tech.

What, in lieu of a guitar? spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Whatever it was for, thank you again Latvian for that gorgeous shot of a special moment.
Thank you too, BV, for your fine photos. And thank you Rolling Stones!

paradoxes of setlist unsatisfaction: a wish for a tune 47 years old instead of a 20 years old one and then a wish for another tune less than 20 years old...

doom and gloom and out of control were clearly sacrified due to micks recovery replaced by the three keith slot and pib

This is true but,I have 2 main reasons for what I say :

1) I like most of their recent material but I dislike "You Got Me Rocking" .

2) I root for the least amount of set list repetition possible within the current set list structure compared to previous concerts in given cities. ( I believe that they played "You Got Me Rocking" the previous 2 times in Brisbane .... 2 of the last 3 shows there. ) Meanwhile,I don't believe that "Let's Spend the Night Together" has ever been performed in Brisbane.

i have to say that i dont like very much YGMR either but have to admit that I heard it played good lately. great opener on no security. it is an arena crowd pleaser

i do like the least set repetition possible too but more that that I do like great performances both as a whole concert and of single tunes.

take SFTD I am really tired of the "sampled-based" version but Perth's was great due to Keith' good job.

then I was watching again to Glasto recently and it was simply terrific no matter what the setlist was

also watching again second O2 2012 gig and of course Lady Jane was a rare pearl but hey the "usual" GS with Florence and a superb Keith was the highlight.

that said
I am starving for Silver train with MT! grinning smiley

Keith said something like "I thought we were going to play some hymns first, but here we are..." when he first got up to the mic and still had his ciggy. His voice was really strong tonight, was great. Just wish he had have done Can't Be Seen instead of Happy.

I think it was Brown Sugar, Mick cut him off halfway through a lick, so he returned the favour by cutting off Mick before he could finish one of the choruses, haha. Or it might have been Gimme Shelter. Too many post show beers.

That's a nice, “strong” pic. Smoking on a stage in Australia nowadays (and in such a nonchalant way) is more or less like entering the Sistine Chapel completely naked...

Can't believe someone said Mick's voice "sounded like shit"! WTF? He sounded great tonight. Would have loved to hear Out of Control and Doom & Gloom, but I hope he goes all out for the kiwis on the weekend to wrap up the tour in style.

They also kept us hanging by keeping the house lights down for a good 3-4 minutes after they left the stage after Satisfaction...but to no avail sad smiley

I love these pictures. It's amazing seeing the Phoenix risen from the ashes - Doxa's " ghost " of Hyde Park to what( judging by clips and comments) Keith seems to be able to now deliver now

There seems to be real interaction with the rest of the band, Mick feeling able to duel with him in OOC, glimmers singing together again, genuine acoustic duet with Ronnie in YGTS - instead of everyone just having to rally round to cover up his difficulties. It just makes me smile watching him revel in playing the guitar again and seeing his pleasure in being a proper part of the gang.

Such a pity that S America is off! I hope he has some playing lined up for after the tour to keep him going, just in case.....

"Due to Mick Jagger's ongoing throat problems, Keith Richards took over lead vocal and dancing duties last night in Brisbane. Here he tries out the trademark Jagger strut and falsetto on "Emotional Rescue".

Interesting that RW takes MT's initial slide part then MJ gives MT about 35 seconds near the end...overall a nice performance.

Silver Train blown me away.
Very powerful rythm, Keith is simply on top and seems to love the song.
His sound on this tour is just mindblowing.

Great solos too...but Mick seemed to be on a big rush for the song.

and it can put an end to all MT rumors about contracts, only MR etc...
its all about Jagger s decision setlist wise...

A great show...ready for the big finale in NZ!
Cheers

The koala was given to Jagger by one of the road crew. He remarked everyone who comes to Brisbane gets one of these right? (Probably because of G20 where alot of the visitors were taken to a koala park). Jagger gave it to Lisa Fisher.
