OT: Your "Bucket List" of artists that you still need to see in concert
Posted by: Mongoose ()

My very first concerts were in 1970, seeing bands like the Association, Grand Funk Railroad, Iron Butterfly, etc.

I've experienced nine Stones concerts, from 1975 - 2006, and, with current ticket prices the way they are (and the set lists looking more and more like the same 20 songs every night), I may be done there.

I was too young to see the Beatles (who also never came close to wear I lived in NC and VA), but I've been fortunate to see Paul three times, and George and Ringo once each.

I had the chance to see Led Zeppelin but my band had a show that night, and I figured I'd have lots of other chances. Didn't work out that way, but I have seen Robert Plant three times, and John Paul Jones once, with Them Crooked Vultures.

Four Who concerts, including with Keith Moon, and I'll probably not spring for seats on the upcoming Who 50 tour.

I'm happy I saw Pink Floyd, as well as Queen with Freddie Mercury, Little Feat with Lowell George, and many other shows over the past 44 years.

All that being said, who have you NOT seen that is now on your Bucket List?

Assuming that Led Zep are officially done, here's mine:

1. Jimmy Page (not sure the band or venue or tour, but I need to see him once)

2. Jeff Beck (can't believe I've missed him all these years, and happy birthday, mate!)

3. Prince

4. Stevie Winwood

5. John Fogarty (maybe a CCR reunion of sorts some day? No?)

6. B. B. King

7. Steely Dan (at one time a group I most wanted to see live, now #7)

8. Green Day

9. Stevie Wonder

10. King Crimson

Steve Winwood

Joan Osborne

Charlie Watts in one of his jazz / boogie woogie groups

Lucinda Williams

the Kinks ( one can hope)

I'd love to see the Kinks if they ever decided to tour (especially concerts in the NYC area).

I'd love to see David Gilmour on his own, with his own band doing solo + key Gilmour Floyd tunes.

Also:
James Taylor
Paul McCartney
Dhani Harrison's band (just out of curiousity).
Jeff Lynne...any ELO arrangement.
Eric Clapton if he's still going strong.
I wish Julian Lennon would give it another try.
ACDC, for fun...

Lou Reed was a big 'bucket list' item for me...sadly that'll never happen.

Bowie I've never seen and is definitely someone I would see. Perhaps Pink Floyd. Definitely Stevie Wonder.

Passed up a chance to see Jack White and Black Keyes this year and probably should have done those shows.

I don't feel like I've seen that many concerts, but I've seen most of the big acts several times, the Stones, Paul McCartney, U2, REM, the Who, Dylan, The Kinks, Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, AC/DC, BB King, Prince, Sting, Pretenders, Iggy Pop, Elton John, Duffy, Tom Jones, Paul Simon, Tony Bennett, Midnight Oil, Guns and Roses (original lineup), Dire Straits, Foreigner, Radiohead, Lady Gaga, Powder Blues Band, Trooper, Doug and the Slugs, Foo Fighters.

No real 'burning urgency' to see any other acts at the moment.

I must be getting old!

I'm 55 years old and have been going to concerts for 40 years. I figure if there's anyone I haven't seen by now, I must not want to see them badly enough for it to really matter whether I ever see them or not.

Apart from the Stones, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds is THE concert that I want to see someday.

Led Zeppelin would be the only band I would go crazy to see. Unfortunately my other favorites (I haven't seen) are in another world. Guess I'm lucky I've seen everything else.

I've seen the Stones, Paul McCartney, and "Weird Al" Yankovic once each, Bruce Springsteen two times in person (third time is when it gets really technical...), and a Beatles Philharmonic & Impersonation band twice. I had a chance to see U2, but passed that up, and I have a chance to see Bob Seeger with the J. Geils Band, which I'm on the fence about.

I'd still like to see the following (in no particular order).

1. Mick Taylor (His solo stuff is pretty good!)

2. David Bowie (if it was a 'greatest hits'-type tour, maybe...)

3. Ringo Starr (without that 'All-Starrs' line-up)

Other than them, I can't think of anyone else...maybe Pink Floyd, maybe...

This is a tough one for me...

...I'd have to say, not counting disbanded bands, there is no one I haven't seen that I would rather see over someone I have already seen and want to see again....if that makes sense?

My bucket list is full of travel destinations.

I am a huge Beatles fan and of course I was not old enough to see them live when they toured. I've never seen any of the solo members perform so I guess Ringo with his All Star Band and then maybe to a lesser degree Paul.

Everyone else, that I really wish I could have seen, I've ethier seen or is now dead or disbanded. Except for the Stones (if/when they play the USA again) I am done spending huge amounts of money, time and travel to see a rock concert(s).

I've seen pretty much everyone I've wanted to see, including the Beatles. I really have no bucket list of bands but I will see a group Friday night that I have wanted to see for a while: Tedeschi/Trucks Band.

I'll have to wait until I do kick the bucket to see the only band I've missed live........Humble Pie....and if that's possible, I'd like to see Ian Dury & the Blockheads again too. Mind you, that might be tricky, the Blockheads are still here. smoking smiley

Buck Owens
Billy Preston
Jerry Lee Lewis & James Brown (House of Blues Sunset)
Dolly (House of Blues Sunset)
Ray Brown Trio
Odetta (a breakfast show on a Tuesday...yeah, weird)
Aretha (I doubt I'll pay what it takes to see her)
Television
Garth Hudson
The Vibrators (found out 2 days late...just last month too)
Simple Minds
A-Ha
Midnight Oil

I couldn't think of any still living until you brought up Dolly Parton. I can see that. I would have loved to see The Specials.

A year ago I would have said Kate Bush. Thank God I got to one of the shows, which was amazing.

I've seen most artists I care about, including Queen (with Freddie), Tom Waits, Stones, neil Young, AC/DC, McCartney, Who, Brian Wilson etc.

My Bucket list now:

ZZ top
van Halen (with DLR)
Robbie Robertson / Garth Hudson

Genesis - with Gabriel and Hackett . This is probably my ultimate bucket gig now.

You might have a chance tonight - strong rumour of a "secret" concert at Massey Hall in Toronto tonight. Line is around the block.

Festival au desert near Timbuktu, if peace ever returns to the region. Even if I have seen a number of artists in London, listening to them in a desert setting must be an incredible experience.

My greatest regret is not seeing Queen with Freddie, as I have seen the artists I really care about apart from Led Zep (if they ever reunite again).
Would not mind seeing them again!smoking smiley

I guess the thread is about artists one really wants to see and has never seen them live so far, right? So for me those are:

Bill Wyman
The Who
Chuck Berry

But other than that I feel like I need to see again most of the acts I have already seen, since most of the gigs I have attended were great.
