The nominees kind of picked themselves though. Joan, as I said, has been an obvious choice for years since her name became affiliated with them. Green Day is the hands down obvious "young" pick to the older/younger generation (much more so than NIN). Lou Reed is obvious, unfortunately because of his death, but he was a lock. Stevie Ray Vaughn has been blatantly ignored so many years there was no way he wasn't going in this time. Really it was just those two last spots.

Nine Inch Nails should be in. Trent Reznor is a visionary who is pushing the boundaries. Probably backlash from him daring to comment about getting screwed over at the Grammy's (song cut way short).

Ringo's getting an Award for Musical Excellence. Seems like an odd choice, especially considering that according to Joel Peresman, the president of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, "This award gives us flexibility to dive into some things and recognize some people who might not ordinarily get recognized."

It's supposed to be an award for virtuoso sidemen and session musicians. Nicky Hopkins, or Bobby Keys, for example, would have been far more sensible choices. Guess they did it just to make sure Paul and Ringo would be there for the TV show.

It isn't the sideman category anymore but What's strange is the Halls own definition of that award, which Ringo still doesn't seem to fit at all.

Maybe they should give this award to whomever lobbied for Joan Jett to be inducted. And hey More Hot Rocks think you're sick over this inductee wait till she plays I Love Rock and Roll at the awards ceremony, I hope they flash to Paul McCartney's face...that would be priceless.

No New York Dolls, Roxy Music or J. Geils Band. Hardly a real Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame without them.
