I lOVE " Almost Hear You Sign", great intro, very under-rated, as is the entire Steel Wheels cd, IMO. I still play it! Continental Drift is hypnotic, I even love Mixed Emotions!! Think I'll listen to it tomorrow on my way to work!

Who is underrating Let It Loose? I thought practically everyone liked that one confused smiley

I have the impression that a lot of fans (including myself) love Almost Hear You Sigh as well.

How Can I Stop seems to divide the fans a bit more, though...

If you gonna go for Almost Hear You Sigh you might as well add Out of Tears. Reaching into the Wayback Machine, how about What A Shame, Going Home (great jam tune), It's Not Easy, Think, Back Street Girl, Hide Your Love, Till the Next Goodbye, Memory Motel. For moi, these and some others are very overlooked. As for (by anyone) "most underrated song of all time", this is one to debate for the ages. I'd throw Elvis Presley's version of "Funny How Time Slips Away" or "Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues" as contenders for the title. As I said, a very open debate.

As the team seems to be waxing nostalgia for Steel Wheels, given those are the only songs proffered so far, I'd like to throw Continental Drift into the mix.

Criminally underrated.

Agree Continental Drift is criminally underrated!!!!!!!!

From the attitude in posts from a couple of heavy posters, I nominate "Tell Me".

Stoneswise, I'd go Fingerprint File, be it studio, or live.

Otherwise, the following spring to mind:

1. Gone Girl: Johnny Cash, 1978
2. I'm On Fire: Jerry Lee Lewis, 1964
3. Guinevere: Miles Davis, 1970
4. Art Lover: The Kinks, 1981
5. Darling Lorraine: Paul Simon
6. Compass: David Crosby
7. Champagne Illinois: Carl Perkins
8. Try Some, Buy Some: Ronnie Spector
9. Sugar, Sugar: Wilson Pickett
10. Like An Inca : Neil Young
11. House of Cards: Richard & Linda Thompson
12. Poor Old Horse: The Albion Band
13. Black Muddy River: Norma Waterson
14. I'm Gonna Run Away From You: Tammi Lynne
15. Hidden Shame: Johnny Cash
16. For The Heart: Elvis Presley
17. Shandy (Whores die Hard) - Kris Kristofferson
18. Pressing On: Bob Dylan
19. Party Hellfire; Dr John
20. Glory Box: John Martyn

Here's a vote for When Blue Turns To Grey

...and the entire career of The Replacements.

If I think the issue from the view of the Rolling Stones, they seemed to underrate "Sittin On A Fence" by not including it into AFTERMATH. An odd decision me thinks, because I think it simply is superior than much in that album ("What To Do", "Take It Or Leave It", "Think", etc.). But then again, making albums is not to pick up the best songs you have, but the most fitting ones. The same argument can be addressed to many other songs that wouldn't make the albums (a classic song in non-Stones sense is Dylan's "Blind Willie McTell")

They, however, they throw the song into FLOWERS in US (fitting nicely there), and later, a bit oddly, to THROUGH THE PAST, DARKLY in UK.

Darn, I tried to give the Replacement a chance the last time you mentioned them - really tried. But it just doesn't click for me, unfortunately... A couple of cool chords, and then it falls apart.

Art Lover is indeed a daring and cool song, Tom!

I don't think I've ever seen anyone who doesn't like WAY (except for the tourists at Stones concerts). Why do you find it underrated?
