I haven't listened to 'Slow Rollers' now that I think about it, since I bought it in 1981(?)

Between The Buttons. I think I listened to it once.

I'm a huge Stones fan and I've been listening to them for 20 years now, but I guess I'm a slow digester -- I still have a couple of records I haven't really listened to:

- Steel Wheels (I've only heard the singles, basically)
- Still Life (heard it once without paying much attention)
- Dirty Work (twice, and cannot remember half of it)
- No Security (heard a few songs)
- Love You Live (about three times)

In contrast, I've heard Beggars Banquet maybe 50 times. Even some bootlegs, like Brussels Affair, I've heard dozens of times.

What about you?

You're not missing much if you never hear those five albums again.

Eh. STILL LIFE and NO SECURITY are pretty good. LOVE YOU LIVE could easily be made into a single album slightly longer than an EP.

I listened to it the other day, actually. Best ballad album ever...

Still Life...

Twenty Flight Rock
Going To A Go Go
Imagination
Under My Thumb
Let's Spend The Night Together
Shattered
Time Is On My Side

The best versions they ever did of those songs in concert, maybe with the exception of Shattered (which is great anyway).

Why the underappreciation of Still Life? People don't like the 50s numbers? The old classics from the 60s? The songs from SG or TY?

Beats me...

Never listen to the pre-Beggar's Banquet albums, just the odd single tracks.

Pete.

We had this discussion in a seperate thread, but "Love You Live" IS a killer set of records.

Nothing redundant on it!!

Do give it several spins.

YES YES YES! This is the truth. I love it!

I feel the same way, although the overly-slick production, significant edits, and heavy overdubbing kinda prevent it from being a "great" live album like Ya Ya's or Love You Live. It is a great song selection though. And the "Let Me Go" on there is tremendous.

I tend to listen to BEGGARS through BLACK AND BLUE, EMOTIONAL RESCUE - UNDERCOVER and... BRIDGES - mainly for Keith's tracks. I'll listen to ABB once in a while.

VOODOO is so bland. And of course DIRTY WORK is just incredibly difficult to listen to, STEEL WHEELS makes me feel like I'm in a mall and with exception to AFTERMATH I find those pre-BEGGARS albums to be a bit of a bore.

I've never gotten around to buying a copy of Got LIVE If You Want It, and although I own No Security I don't think I've ever actually listened to it. Except for Steel Wheels, everything album after Undercover has gotten one spin and that's pretty much it.

"Doom and Gloom" is not bad at all, though. I find myself actually wanting to listen to it again, which has not been the case with me for their new stuff in 25 years or so. It may be their last word as far as new material goes, and if so, I'm glad they went out on a relatively high point.

Nope. I've listened to 'em all at least twice--even Between the Buttons and Dirty Work.

Let's be clear: excepting side three (on the vinyl editions), Love You Live is lame.

Jagger's affected singing communicates the fact he considered the Stones his dreary day job when he'd much rather be snorting cocaine with the likes of Liza Minelli and Elton John.

Yawn.

Never really listened to anything newer than Bridges. Only Stripped worked for me and that's a long time back and no new songs on it. Everything else I've heard I didn't like.

Big difference between "never heard" or "dont listen to it anymore". The live albums from latter era (Still Life, Flashpoint, Live Licks) I dont touch ever. But every studio album from 63 to present - inside out.

I bought it in 1982, along with the reissue of TSMR with the 3D cover!

I'm not sure if I've ever sat through Metamorphosis from start to finish - I usually just skip around with the CD remote/mouse as a lot of it really sucks. But I just picked up a nice vinyl copy for cheap a couple of weeks ago, so it might finally have its day in the sun...

Nothing I've never heard, but all of the latter-day live albums run together for me and seem to have no distinct identity. I listened to A Bigger Bang exactly two times the day it was released and then I re-purposed the CD as a handy drinks coaster.

I'd say that NS has a pretty distinct identity, as the songs are songs not normally played in concert. Well, most of them, that is...

I have never heard Brussels Affair, L.A. Friday, Hampton 1981, Tokyo 1990, Light The Fuse or Leeds 1982. I will buy the official dvd+cd combo's when they come out and hopefully they will release the remaining concerts on cd also.

Does film for Brussels Affair, Leeds 1982 and Light The Fuse excist?

Weren't there cds in that Brussels-box as well, or was it only vinyl?

You have indeed something to look forward to, and surprisingly Light The Fuse is not the step down quality-wise as one might think, imo.

There is a pro-shot film of Leeds. There isn't any footage from Brussels. There are bits and pieces from other 1973 shows but afaik, a fairly complete pro-shot '73 show does not exist.
