It's too bad that they did such a pathetic imitation for THE BIGGEST BANG. What a waste of time.

Love the slave rehearsal footage

There's some great stuff on both of those. With all the archival stuff released in the past few years I haven't had time to go back and look at it. In retrospect I'm sure it will be remembered fondly, especially in comparison to now.

I watched both FF and TBB in the fast few weeks. The live footage, not the documentaries.
Four Flicks is absolutely amazing the way it is. All of it.
As for TBB, the Austin show was really hard to watch / listen to because of the overdubs. I am not able to distinguish what exactly is overdubed and what is not, but big part of Mick's vocals somehow didn't sound live to me. But maybe it is just down to bad mix? I don't know. But it surely ruined the show for me. More than the guitars... The Rio show on the other hand was great, but the picture quallity could have been much better. After watching TBB I watched the full Saitama show, part of which is on one of the TBB discs. What a show that is. And without any overdubs. They should have released this one instead of Austin, reduce the TBB down to 3 discs and it could have been a gret release. This way it is far behind FF. And for me it is also behind Shine a Light and Sweet Summer Sun

For me it's FF, and the others in descending order. There are few highlights on Shine A Light excepting As Tears Go By (a rare rarity), Live With Me with Christina Aguilera, and Buddy Guy for Champagne & Reefer. I'm still looking for a highlight to Sweet Summer Sun.

They played tremendous on the LICKS tour.
On the A BIGGER BANG tour, they didn't play nearly as great.
In many ways, including the documentaries, ABB was seemed like a rehash.
It seemed like they achived everything that was possible, regarding shows and song-wise, with any rarities played. What was there left to do on the next tours, except doing it again or just play hits? I know they had a new album under their belt in 2005-07, but as usual they ended up playing only 3-4 new songs, as the tour progressed.

i think it's "get off my plate bitch" because Keef was actually eating something. hysterical nonetheless. just as the played-up antangony "where the f*ck am i? the f*ck am i?!?" FF also made the biggest impression on me, while TBB was kinda sigh. but that might be due to the fact that i got it at 15 and my grandma hat to go get it as it was age-restricted to 16 in germany because of the HTW animation. anyway i love watching backstage stuff just for the sake of it being backstage, so i find good in both documentaries. and while the whole atmosphere of the Austin footage is somehow clinical, i was more irritated that the Asia disc ("Rest of the World"-sic) is cut together so randomly. i also want to see the whole of Saitama as mentioned by Happy24. the picture quality of the Copacabana concert might be because it's just the live satellite feed on a DVD? just as the MSG concert on FF. final point: the DVD menus on TBB are just awful. enough to get senior fans so desperate that they turn off the whole thing. so by all these standards FF might be the best movie-kinda-thingy they have yet come up with.Quote

It gives me hope that Mick and Keith like each other more than they let on. They are in close quarters a lot of the time here and its positive to see.
I also find Keith's "get off my plane bitch" friggen hysterical at the beginning of part 4.
...which might tell you something about "squeezing out that last drop of sweat." (quote Keef)Quote
The Worst.
2006 was also a solid year I think, but they seemed a bit tired in 2007. ABB was such a long tour.
Comparing Hollywood Bowl in '05 with Helsinki in '07, is like comparing two different worlds.

edit: probably someone who has only ever seen them in Helsinki
(boy, that one is already legendary for being so bad. is there a "good" bootleg?)

Has anyone mentioned "That's How Strong My Love Is" at the Olympia in Paris?
Re the Hollywood Bowl, what a wonderful night. Never mind that Ronnie and Keith were not especially memorable. Mick and Charlie were, and the Stones'
forever loyal LA audience loved it. Most of the nice guys working in the audience, showing fans to seats, etc. were Latino...didn't know anything about the Stones but they, too, got into the music. "Fantastico," they kept saying. I was so proud! Told em where to get the best deals on Stones vinyl and CDs.
