I never understood why folks thought it wasn't!

Saddened today by this news. He was a great contributor to rock and blues guitar playing. A decent multi-part interview on the Legends series on YouTube is worth watching. RIP Johnny, you will be missed by this guitarist. peace

Yes very sad. Beautiful summer time here in Zurich and we enjoy life and he died here. Johnny was "only" 70 years old.

On September 2 his new album will (hopefully) be released.

RIP

It's already available for "Pre-order" on Amazon. I'm hoping that means if anything is actually still needing to be done it's in the post production/manufacturing as opposed to recording. From info listed earlier in this thread, I'm looking forward to it along with others posting here. I also hope that the release will happen on time unless they decide to make it a bigger package in light of his passing.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Over at youtube are purported jams of Winter and Hendrix, one was real good with Stephen Stills. The others, were jams.

Been beating myself up all day because I passed up the chance to see him at Jazz Fest this year. I thought, he's only about the same age as the Stones, there'll be another chance . . sad smiley

I will remember his collaboration with Muddy Waters which was very successful. And of course his distinct looks.
This is an artist the Stones should have invited on stage as a guest somewhere down the line. But it never happened (as far as I know).

Sad news, when I was told about it at work ,us old guys had a good old recollection, unfortunately the younger guys were unaware of his work.
Used to have Johnny Winter and back in the 70's ,not listened to him for a while ,must admit.
R I P Johnny Winter, thanks for some of my musical memories.

He was one of those guys I knew about as a kid in the 70s - the white hair, looks were so distinctive. But I didn't really know about him musically until later. I happaned to catch a live broadcast on the radio a few years ago, and he blew me away. Great blues artist, a truly unsung guitar hero.
RIP.

Johnny Winter may have actually released "Silver Train" on album before the Rolling Stones' version.

Sometimes people tend to like the first version of a song they hear even if others previously did the song. It almost seems like it is a psychological factor.
