oh,man does this suck.i was lucky enough to see him live years ago,one of the best guitar players i've ever seen.

the records didnt do justice to how great he really was it had to be seen live, the stuff with muddy, still alive and well, all tore down- it doesnt get much better.

it scares me how many of these guys we're losing.

One of the great blues/rockers. A great loss of a great performer as well as a man who helped others with their careers.

From Facebook:

Hello all,

My wife, Monique, and I are shocked at the suddenness of Johnny's passing, especially since I was so looking forward with such joy and anticipation to seeing him again and playing together. I know his body is departing this physical realm, but his presence, his music, and his spirit are undiminished, and alive as ever in my heart.
Johnny has always been, is now, and will forever remain my greatest musical hero of all time. But more than all that, he's my brother--in family, in music, in life and beyond. I will do my best to carry on in honor of his memory and the Winter name.

Blessings Peace & Love,
Edgar & Monique

very sad....just read that he died in my neighborhood in zurich, switzerland. weird....

Yes very sad. Beautiful summer time here in Zurich and we enjoy life and he died here. Johnny was "only" 70 years old.

On September 2 his new album will (hopefully) be released.

RIP

It's already available for "Pre-order" on Amazon. I'm hoping that means if anything is actually still needing to be done it's in the post production/manufacturing as opposed to recording. From info listed earlier in this thread, I'm looking forward to it along with others posting here. I also hope that the release will happen on time unless they decide to make it a bigger package in light of his passing.

Peace,
Mr DJA

the entire thing is already complete

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

Peace,
Mr DJA
