And another cover of Shine A Light...

--- (and a new fav for oool´ Baboon´s oool´ hippy ears... ?)
Oh, my poor fav, always recorded, covered, everywhere...
Happily I´ve heard it by some of the finest of artists lately...
Donnow about this one; and I cant decide whether its ruined or
lifted or anything...

Allison Crowe is the lady; oh, her looks...

She sounds a bit like my oool´ fav melanie
("that hippy chick") & has also covered her
"Lay Down" (the most hippiesque of all M:s songs
but nevertheless one of the strongest numbers in music history
if you ask me, esp. outside the Stones...). ***
.....Back to Allison: Cohen´s Joan of Arc aint a surprising cover...
I´m more curious over her own songs
(some also downloadable thru link below)
[while writing I hear the Cohen-cover; I must say it´s at least O.K.
An own song "What About You" is in my loudspeakers right now, but may need some more listenings.

At [www.allisoncrowe.com] you can download some mp3:s
(also SAL!) or listen to whole albums in streaming format... havent checked out this bride on torrent sites yet.
...Wow! And yeah!
~ ~ ~ You c a n actually download "Lay Down"!! Although anythin would be bleak compared to Melanie Safka (Oh, God; imagine Jagger doin´ that... With Taylor as vibrating guest... *** btw link to Melanie Safka, as a ref.[freespace.virgin.net])
~ ~ ~ J u s t g o to [www.allisoncrowe.com] and scroll down to the text "Covering the song-front" - which has a nice pic of Allison beside - and then to No 9 "Lay Down", right-click & save-target-as-... She even covered Nirvana "It Smells" (do I dare to listen? Well, yeah; here she´s mean, weird & barbed wirish) & Counting Crows, Pearl Jam, Tori Amos... (!)

---And please don´t laugh at a Far Away Eyed North European; havent heard about her. (...Canadian, I understand...
May explain better the faiblesse for oooool´ Leonard...)

+++++ Back to Melanie, the generation (or 1½?) before Allsion above... +++
Sorry to pop in again in my own thread; but my life will never be the same again - I found & downf*ckingloaded
Lay Down
as a "little video"(though the whole song, complete with gospel choir & all...)
......U can do it 2!! ... Go to Profet David Boldinger´s (has collected over two hours of videos!!) site
[www.geocities.com]
& click the first that come´s up (see minature):
......"Lay Down (candles in the rain)"...
O, Holy Smoke.
(A famous song "Look What They´ve Done To My Song Ma" is clickable from 1971.
And "Give Peace A Chance". But I´m not so much into them myself)

- Even if the studio version is better imho, this is heavy as well...
...If you´re into Shine A Light, Stones ´gospel sides & Elvis a lá 1969-1973, this is Bigtime!! (Note that you gotta have Real Player)
PS From [www.geocities.com] you can click yourself from 1968 to 2000... Unfortunately you cant download the Woodstock performance, but I guess its available at other places.
......."Lay Down"-Bonus: Note the white folks in the audience, gettin´ "exstatic" towards the end...
