Favourite Stones Drum Track

Following on from recent posts (Greatestr Drummer / Fav Drummer) - What is your favourite drum track on any Stones record?

Mine is Sleep Tonight with RW on drums...

Only kiddig ya!

I absolutely love the two bangs on the toms at the beggining of Honky Tonk Women (after the cowbell) followed by that "lazy" drum beat.

Rock n Roll perfection and power!

Sympathy for the Devil! Of course! Honky tonk women, Brown sugar, well, those are the top 3 in my ears, and in my bone marrow. That's what it is, bone marrow music.

Since this is "favourite" and not "best", my vote goes to Midnight Rambler studio version, Honky Tonk and Everything turns into gold.

The only one I don't really like is Mixed Emotions

I think Charlie played better drums on a later level in his career, he does not only sounds better - but he plays better on albums like Tattoo You and Voodoo Lounge compared with the albums from the sixties. But if I had to put one great drum song from Charlie in the sixties it must be Citadel.

I like his playing at SMU, too. But I have always wondered if Charlie's beginning on that song is a mistake. Is it?

smiling smiley He's a little on the side of the beat, but often that extra twist makes it more exciting. We can only speculate whether it was on purpose or not.
