UK Daily mail reports a Memorial Service for L'Wren (photo's of MJ, KR, RW, but not CW).

Worth noting that although The Mail refers to it as a Memorial, the invitation show calls it a Celebration.

A Tribute to L'Wren Scott
By WWD STAFF

Scores of L'Wren Scott's friends and relatives turned out Friday night for a memorial service at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York.

The designer’s partner, Mick Jagger, was among the first to arrive, slipping in a side entrance with his daughter Georgia May Jagger. Within minutes, fellow Rolling Stone Keith Richards and his wife, Patti Hansen, darted past, as did Ronnie Wood and his better half Sally Humphreys. Following their lead, Martin Scorsese also dodged the pack of photographers stationed behind a barricade on Park Avenue.

While commuters tried to make their way along the crowded sidewalk, guests like Julianne Moore, Meg Ryan, Olivia Munn, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lorne Michaels, Baz Luhrmann and Daphne Guinness were whisked up the church steps by security. Renee Zellweger, Karlie Kloss, John McEnroe and Tony Shafrazi were among the late arrivals.

The fashion industry and media world were well-represented, thanks to Anna Wintour, Francisco Costa, Glenda Bailey, Graydon Carter, Mark Lee, Simon Doonan, Daniella Vitale, Hamish Bowles, Cindi Leive, Ingrid Sischy, Sandy Brant, Steven Kolb, Famke Janssen, Ken Downing and Lizzie Tisch.

They were all there to pay tribute to Scott, who took her life on March 17 at the age of 49 in her New York apartment. In one of many emotionally charged moments, Jagger, after eulogizing Scott with touching stories of their years together, sang Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman," accompanied by piano.

Other speakers included Scott's brother, Randy Bambrough, Ellen Barkin, Andre Leon Talley, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cathy Horyn and Rachel Feinstein.

After Friday's memorial, guests were invited to a private reception at The Top of The Standard

Look at Jagger's hand.
He is obviously not relaxed.
Understandable.

Indeed.

must have been emotionally painful and very tough for Mick to sing this fitting song.
I do believe this kind of active mourning makes him stronger and able to move on and also clears his mind for upcoming events.

Just Like a Woman

Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Everybody knows that baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls

She takes just like a woman
Yes, she does, she makes love just like a woman
Yes, she does, and she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl

Queen Mary, she's my friend
Yes, I believe I'll go see her again
Nobody has to guess that baby can't be blessed
'Til she finally sees that she's like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamine, and her pearls

She takes just like a woman
Yes, she makes love just like a woman
Yes, she does, and she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl

It was raining from the first and I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts, but what's worse
Is this pain in here, I can't stay in here, ain't it clear

That I just can't fit
Yes, I believe that it's time for us to quit
But when we meet again, introduced as friends
Please don't let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world

Ah, you fake just like a woman
Yes, you do, you make love just like a woman
Yes, you do, then you ache just like a woman
But you break just like a little girl

One poem that was read:

She Walks in Beauty
By Lord Byron (George Gordon)

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

Whoever wrote that probably thinks "recited" means "sang a capella".
It sounds like the event was a strong and warm one. Good.

Sounds like a nice ceremony. I've never been in St. Bart's, but have passed by it countless times (when staying at the Towers next door) and always admired it. I read that Just Like a Woman was written about Edie Sedgwick, although I don't know that Dylan has ever said that himself.

Mourners moved to tears by Mick Jagger tribute to L’Wren Scott

Designer L’Wren Scott was remembered Friday evening memorial service in Manhattan filled with celebrities – including her rocker boyfriend Mick Jagger, who sang Bob Dylan’s “Just Like a Woman” in her memory.

“The most touching moment was when Mick sang the Bob Dylan song for L’Wren. The lyrics were so beautiful and so appropriate. It was deeply moving,” a source said.

The service for Scott, a noted fashion designer and stylist who committed suicide March 17, was held at St. Bartholomew’s Church on Park Avenue.

Others who attended included actresses Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Meg Ryan and Renee Zellweger; Vogue editor Anna Wintour; film director Baz Luhrmann; Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter and fashion personality Andre Leon Talley.

“Everyone spoke that loved her. Everyone had their own beautiful memories of L’Wren. Mick Jagger spoke, Sarah Jessica Parker spoke, I spoke, Rachel Feinstein spoke, and all the grandkids and sons they read scripture,” said Talley, a former editor at large at Vogue.

“The mood was beautiful, solemn, elegant. The mood was L’Wren. She would have approved of everything, the flowers, every single thing. It was brilliant.”

Fans lined against barricades to take photos of attendees, whose names were being checked on iPads as they entered.

A small and private funeral was held for Scott in late March in Los Angeles, after which she was cremated, per her wishes.
Scott left her entire estate to Jagger.

Sounds like a beautiful celebration of L'Wren's life. I can't even imagine how difficult it must have been for Mick to get up and sing, lovely song. Very nice to see that his bandmates showed up for support.

Good thing I wasn't invited, I know I would have bawled my eyes out!

Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind...

In spite of it all, I was very glad to see Keith and Patti there. Funny, when listing those in attendance, it never mentions Keith. Ron looked good! Most of all, I was relieved to see Mick looking quite well...he's been through a lot, still he looks well.
