how does one find out about rehersals - is the venue and date a secret until the very end?

I will not publish the name of the site here. The reason is quite obvious. They go to Toronto to rehearse, not to perform. If there are 500 people queuing outside the rehearsals location then there will be security issues, privacy issues, and the whole point of reheasring in Toronto will fail. This is the kind of info which travel by word of mouth - literally. Just like names of their hotels, where they live etc. Not supposed to be exposed widely in public, due to security.

The location of Amsterdam 1999 rehearsals were common knowledgde. No more than a handfull of people turned up every day. So 500 people in Toronto sounds a bit steep!

When you look at the video called "streets of Toronto" shot during the rehearsals in 2002, 50 people waiting around is a maximum, more likely 30 every day.
The band will be very disappointed if nobody is there.
The reports from Toronto Tom (great guy i met) were fantastic.
I used to call him Uncle Tom for my daughters who used to ask me every morning : how is uncle Tom? good reports from the last rehearsals, Which songs played?
Great souvenirs for me and what a nice surprise when Tom shouted : they tried Can't you hear me knocking ...
Hope to live the same feelings next august.

You are right.
Rehearsing Sway at least twice on 6th and 8th august 2002.
So what about "Child of the moon"?

More & more people came to rehearsals towards the end, the more word of mouth spread. There was alot of people there on the final day, maybe 100. That video isn't very representational of what happened there, imo.

There is also a forum here for stones in toronto:

Toronto has always been a big Stones town
so I doubt the rehearsal location will
remain secret for long. The bands
comings and goings are usually
well covered in the local
press, including everyday
sightings about town. But
folks are pretty civil and
I suspect thats one reason
they like coming here, they
aren't really harassed. Of course
there were fans outside where
they rehearsed last time, as is seen
in the video that was mentioned. And btw,
Keith did give them the finger, and seem
annoyed at times, but such is fame.
I'm sure the bad boys of rock can
handle an excited buncha Canucks,
even enjoy the attention-
it creates a buzz, without
ever really putting them at
risk..............

Wouldn't it be great if they did
a club gig at Stones Place on Queen?
Blondie and Bernard are known to
hang out there, and Jerry S. seems to
have decorated the joint with Keith
and Woody in mind. Anybody keeping
close tabs on the situation there?

Yeah, that would be great. Last time I was there was in December on Keith's bday. I'm sure the stones have visited the place in private. Would be nice to see more Bill Wyman/Brian/Mick T. stuff there too, and why not some Bobby Keys too. There used to be a BJ corner but it's not there now.

Yeah that was a pretty good night tho the
guys fizzled out at the end. It almost
looks like it was made for a real life
Stones event, and Jerry would certainly
seem to have the connections, but mmaybe
it's a bit too obvious?

So Keith, what was your inspiration naming the album Let it Bleed? 'I'll tell you what it would have been now: It would have been your face!'
