If you have an opportunity to be there, don't miss it. If you are close enough, you can see all those lovely little nods and winks that go on between them, and the smiles they give each other, the kind of stuff that is sometimes captured by the cameras and makes it up onto the big screen(s) - but sometimes not. The other thing is, in some settings, the sound is just staggeringly good. I was on the security rail for example at Hyde Park. Now I do not know what was done in "sound engineering" terms, but the quality of the sound on Midnight Rambler was simply THE best I have EVER heard, and I have done a good few tongue pit shows now. The version of the song might not have been the best I've ever heard them do, I was again in the pit and on the security rail in Shanghai for example. THAT version of Rambler was better in terms of how they played it (or so I thought - these things at the end of the day are a personal point of view) - but the sound (although fantastic) simply couldn't match what I heard on 13th July 2013 in Hyde Park. WHY ? I've no idea, but I heard what I heard and that's just my own personal viewpoint.

In conclusion, if "proximity to the artist" is an important issue for you, do NOT miss the tongue pit. It is just a great vantage point from which to see and listen to the Rolling Stones, there's nothing quite like it.

I happened to be 6 times in the tongue and 5 times of it first row left Ronnie's side. It was an incredible experience. They are so close that you can touch them (at least you might think). Being in frist row may affect the sound as you are very close to the amps and the sound did get muffled at times. Also there are some lights directly in front of you which are extremeley bright. But hey, it's worth every penny and I do not regret anything. See my photos on photobucket under Grison 1

It has been almost a year since I had my Tongue Pit experience.
$1500 and worth every penny. An unbelievable experience.
Once in a lifetime for me. But that's fine. If the conversation turns to The Rolling Stones; then I share my treasured evening.
I have photos. I have horrid video, nearly unwatchable to anyone but me and I don't care.
If you get a chance- do pay all that money for a pit ticket and you won't regret it for a second.
It's The Rolling Stones.
