i've been saying it would be HTW since the end of the Licks tour. Makes perfect sense.

i think HTW would be better after they tear up the B Stage
it could be like a little break for them
Easy to play and let the crowd sing a little

I also mentioned before that they are in 30-year-circle. I think HTW is not the perfect opener, but maybe they will do it for the arena OR stadium show.

don't you want something new, something fresh ?

The Stones are masters at putting a show together. They will not open with something even slightly obscure (NFA was a somewhat obscure Stones song, but a very recognizable song/riff in general). That's why HTW is the leading candidate this time around.

I really believe they're gonna open with something we don't expect.

don't you remember the Voodoo Lounge Tour ?
they opened with Not fade away ...Who expected that song ?

How about "Mother's Little Helper" with the opening line - What a drag it is getting old?

HTW opened the Olympia show in 1995

I will hope so because the intro of HTW is really a great opener

You think? I think it's far to slow to open a show.
I hope they open with something unexpectable like NF on the VL tour.

Cheers,
Wuudy

NFA was a good concept for an opener but suffered from bad execution. guitars were often either a "mess" or inaudible. Sounded lack Jagger and Charlie doing a duet at times.

christ i hope not. I'll take one hit to the body

It ain't gonna be One Hit To The Body.....or any other obscure song. I, like most of you, love most of the Stone's songs....but they are not going to open a stadium show with a song that no one knows.....I don't want them to......and neither do you, if you'll be honest with yourself.

Yah your right. mick and keith have bad memories form that era. I'll go with Highwire instead!

I say Let It Rock - although I know they won't start with this one.

Perhaps they could start with a short version of satisfaction and get it out of the way (at least for stadiums). I'd prefer it at the beginning, perhaps followed upimmediately by Tumbling Dice before getting to the new stuff...

It will be one of the war horses only this time it will be slower, longer and without guitars and zero spontanity from Mick. Maybe it will be good in the US but by the time they hit Europe...Sorry, hope I'm wrong, but... well, we'll see.

i would like to see the stones open with "Gimme Shelter". for effect and mood, i don,t think you could pick a better song. a wonderful closer would be "Tumbling Dice". i think they did close with "Td" a few times on the licks tour.

One of these songs as the opener?

We Love You
If You Can't Rock Me
Hang Fire
Let's Spend The Night Together
Come On

I listened to "She Vos Hot" last night at work. It would be a killer opener. It's the last good song they wrote in my humble opinion.

"The wonder of Jimi Hendrix was that he could stand up at all he was so pumped full of drugs." Patsy, Patsy Stone

Don´t Lie To Me

"Well let's talk it over baby before we start
I heard about the way you do your part
Don't lie to me... don't you lie to me
Don't you make me mad I'll get evil as a
man can be"

(Which is a Jagger/Richards-tune,
I have always thought of it as a cover)

or Stoned would be smashing openers...
...Another one even less known than those is I´m Goin´ Down
which would be an OUTRAGEOUS opening!

Re: ... opener

Don't Lie to Me is a Chuck Berry number, Baboon Bro my dear ...
whatever the Stones decide to open with will be fine with me, but if we're predicting rather than "requesting"
Had It With You :E
no no, i meant:
I'm Alright

"What do you want - what?!"
- Keith

Thanks in deed, With sssoul !!

Yeaaah... Embarassing, was too early in the morning.
It explains my surprise when I read Jagger/Richards...
.....Please, note, all ya good people: Don´t (Ya) Lie To Me i s a C h u c k B e r r y -tune (like if anyone here didnt know).

(Chuckster´s site - Covered Berries, scroll to the Rolling Stones & "Dont Ya Lie To Me")

But see these fookers; that´s where I got the brilliant idea of DLTM
as some Edith Grove-kind o´ thing [home.swipnet.se]... Always check the sources.
Got struck by a psychoflash, as we say here. COuldnt find the usual
Stones-lyrics.-site & neither do I have time to localize it now,
as I´m in the midst a insanily rushy workin day.
