While listening to The Stones a couple of weeks back live from Halifax Commons on the Bigger Bang tour i was surprised to hear them start their set with Paint It Black. As far as i'm aware this is something they haven't done before or since. Does anyone know why they chose to do this on this particular night?

Rip this joint would be a great opener. Have they ever opened a show with it?

I think Sympathy would be a great opener, "Please allow me..............
Plus it would get all the Whoo, whoos out of the way early...........

Of all the "would be's", yours is the most reliable one as the Sympathy-like intro they use since 2012 really seems to animate the crowd

It looked to be kicking off big time down the front that night, was a great show though.

When they played here in 90 i was 16 and right in the middle of my exams. But i got to see them at wembley in 95 which was perfect as my other favourite band The Black Crowes supported them (although they went down like a led balloon on the day). I went to Edinburgh on an organised coach trip and was disappointed to be given a ticket for the seats. I was looking right down on the trouble and i'm sure it actually first started during Sheryl Crows set. Brilliant memories, i doubt they'll ever play Newcastle again which is a shame because Newcastle is definitely a Stones city, and are played regular on the city centre juke boxes in the bars.

Under my thumb from the 1981/82 tour is my favorite, with Not fade away a close second. No need to start a show with a warhorse.
