New Album Info

There's a CD of new album rehearsals from 2004 circulating in elite circles(I don't have it---YET!) A friend of mine who has heard it says its raw and blusey...lots of harp and loud, dirty guitars...he says its rawer than Some Girls and will blow a lot of people away...he's afraid they will ruin it by overproducing these gems!
Almost forgot, he says Oh No, Not You Again is the title track on the album...it won't be the first single for obvious reasons!

good news! I hope we will get this CD soon!

If they gonna call the album "Oh No, Not You Again" - I think that's the greatest title since Emotional Rescue. The guys aren't totally blind for self irony.

What goes for the rumoured content of the material, being raw and bluesy, aren't it always? It's the long way from the out-takes to the final result heard on the CD. "Rawer than Some Girls"? Sounds like Exile (once again)...

A while ago "The Maverick" posted over here that he downloaded the CD mentioned in the post from shidoobee from a Torrent site. [iorr.org]

But reading most of "The Maverick's" posts he didn't seem very reliable to me. Also, don't you think that more people might have heard about this already? It seems strange to me that if there is a CD in circulation that it hasn't found it's way to anyone on IORR/Shidoobee/Rocks Off yet.

it sounds too good to be true...
can't wait to get the album.

I can not believe this ether, but if it's true I would love to get a copy of it.

My good mate Mr D (MRD8) posted the piece in question on both shidoobee and RO. And to answer your question about his reliability - in one word... very.


Some people get material that doesnt go into circulation right away (and no, I dont have it either, before you ask!)

I recall maverick mentioning that he'd heard rough versions of some of the songs, but I dont recall him saying he'd downloaded it from a torrent site. I certainly havent seen it on a torrent site and I basically live on some of those things.

There is some stuff that is kept secret for a while, it's nothing new.
As an example, the Brixton 95 show in pro-shot video.
It exists, few people have it and just don't share.

If the story of this recording is true, we'll have to be patient. My guess is it's gonna be available once the official CD is out.

In my dopey little opinion I think that "Oh No, Not You Again" is an indicator of what the album will sound like overall....sleazy, guitar driven, songs written WITH THE INTENT to be played live. Mick and Keith WANT (IMO) to prove they still got "it".

Like many, I dont want too much polishing on the production end. Maybe LIVE LICKS was a good indicator that production is being thrown to the wolves.

I predict it will be a VERY GOOD album. It has to stand alone and not rest on their past.

Oh No Not You Again is a nice, ballsy (ballsey? Dont recall ever writing this word...) title.

The story about the rehearsals cd is of course total bullshit. If there would be a single track it would be spread - just like the press conferenc recordings during the last days.

But:

1.There have been no rehearsals. Mick and Keith recorded demos while they wrote their stuff, but when Charlie joined them they started directly recording the basic tracks - which are now being overdubbed by Ronnie and the backing group.

2.These days noone involved in a production like this is allowed to burn anything on CD. They make very strict contracts about this. Everything is recorded on several harddiscs, which are all password protected. There is not one burned CD lying around because of the fear it could be stolen - so there won´t be any outtakes and rehearsals for the bootleggers like all that Voodoo stuff.

I finally got a chance to hear the whole press conference version of the song this morning. On the plus side, it has bite and rawness MIA for about 2 decades now. on the minus side, Keith hasn't learned a new lick in - well, also about 2 decades. ah, well....

Yeah the solo is nearly the same he does live in songs like You got me rocking.

Hey, somebody deleted the post about Wood's son selling tapes to a bootlegger! It's a true story AND widely known, why would anyone delete this?
