Apparently, so is playing any song even remotely considered to be a rarity!

No doubt they do a great job of performing those numbers and it's a fun night. It's just too bad they are not an actual band anymore, with a repertiore they can draw from.

I mean I'm not sure you if you tried if you could put together a more safe, dull, pedestrian, unimaginative, mainstream, cautious, tired, undemanding, lightweight, and shallow of a set list. Like lots of folks are saying, it's only the 1st show, and everyone surely had a good time etc. But really, this is probably the lamest, most unadventurous set list I can imagine. And such small quantities as the joke goes - 19 songs?! As someone who is going to travel from Boston to Macau, I REALLY hope this gets better.

I just hope they won't dig up GET OFF OF MY CLOUD to be the opener for the rest of the shows, I actually prefer Start Me Up. I wish the Stones would be more like Dream Theater - change ALL songs on their setlist for every new tour.

some people did, apparently because of the rehearsals. As you note, what happened was predictable, what they always do.

Perhaps the setlist was geared towards an audience who had never seen them before. It's not like the Middle East is a regular tour stop for them...OK, that was a tad optomistic...

Maybe because we may make judgments on attending future shows based on current setlists?

It was to be a show for people from Arabia (first time) and not those that have been to Stones shows several times before from all around the world. For people from Arabia (many of them and first time attendance) it is only fair they play the most know songs.

Obviously, you don't follow closely. This is what they always do, it has nothing to do with where they are playing. This is the tour setlist. Why would anyone think they are going to mix it up on this tour, of all things, when they haven't done that in a long long time.. The setlist has exactly ZERO to do with where they show was.
