OT : Phil Collins

Phil Collins is back.... Heard the news on the Stern radio Show. I hate Collins' music and I know he is a great musician but I can't stand it; the 80's with the drums going "splash splash", please make it stop! Not again.
Rock and roll,
Mops

Correct!!! Collins-Genesis music is a spit in the face of contemporary, rock music ever attempted. Even the off spin Mike & Mechanics is nauseous at best.

All I need is a Miracle... I really want to vomit thinking of that song.

I don't care what Phil Collins does, just so long as he stays away from Eric Clapton.

Phil Collins ruined what potentially could have been a great mid-80s album of Clapton's (Behind The Sun), and has rendered it all but permanently unlistenable.

I agree with you. And not only he ruined the Clapton album but tried to ruin the Motown songs.

Good drummer, good singer, good songwriter.

I like the popversion of Genesis and his first 4 soloalbums.

Whilst I don't listen to his music anyone that pisses off so many people has got to have something going for him.

On the other hand, he is a decent person who only makes music not only to appease himself but to his fans as well. I have respect for his remarkable journey, despite the fact his music doesn't sit well.

The anagram album.

Should play drums on a world tour with Zeppelin (remember Live Aid) and maybe do 4 or 5 of his own songs in the middle...smoking smiley

I saw Phil Collins 1x solo and 2x with Genesis.

I would only like to see him for a 4th time, when he returns with Genesis in this lineup: Collins-Gabriel-Rutherford-Banks-Hackett

Another "retiree" who comes back after all? Didn't he say he was death or something?

He keeps retiring and coming back. No one falls for the "last tour" anymore.

ya right, he was a prime reason that their Live Aid performance was a train wreck.

I seem to remember a Clapton tour with him on drums & Mark Knopfler on guitar. It was pretty boring.

It's the "Never Can Say Goodbye" tour, because you can never say goodbye too many times, especially if you can never say goodbye.

Actually, Phil and Cher should release a duet cover of Never Can Say Goodbye and make guest appearances at each other's shows, as a closer, when it's time to tell each audience goodbye.... again.... for now....

why is there a thread on here, a Rolling Stones site about such tuneless person like collins.
I never liked him,but after he flew on effin' Concorde to ruin 2 charity concerts for LiveAid ,my contempt for him became complete.
