Ron Wood on B Stage - HBO MSG
Posted by: OpenG ()

Okay many here say the stones sound and play better on the B stage without
the backup singers and glitter.

So I watched RW play on the B stage and he did nothing at all.

IORR - RW just played rhythm and keith did all the angular chuck berry riffs
When The Whip Comes Down- Again RW played nothing Keith played the same licks
from IORR as he usually does.

Brown Sugar - a terrible version.

So what did RW do on the B stage that was amazing he again was just a support
player to keith.

Good god, you are really pushing it now open G.
What the hell are you doing on this forum?
You should be on a Taylor board or an "i hate Ronnie board".

I asked you before but you didn't answer, do you still go to stones shows and what was your last show?

Cheers,
Wuudy

no security tour 1999 DC - they played moolight mile and tried to noodle.
jagger even played the opening riff on guitar.I grew up with the woody era and
have all the stones records and just being honest out here here IMO which means
nothing. Its all subjective and we all should be able to have opinions.

Wuddy, I even offered to pay the web fee for an I hate Ronnie board if he promised to go there. He says he does not hate Ronnie! I hate to play shrink, but he must be disassociating, fracturing into mutiple personalities, because he shows no insite into the facts that his posts reek of at least negative emotions if not out and out hatred!

You are living in the past man!

I read the post Kahoosier. I'm willing to chip in if it works!!!!

Well, he did play the opening acoustic on the album, so why shouldn't he play it also live on stage?

The sound on the MSG show on HBO has almost NO Ronnie in the mix for most of the show. This pissed me off to no end but I didnt hear many complaints from other fans. Ronnie did a good job at that show. He and Keith change parts constantly on all songs but for the most part Ronnie just does the detail work. Keith riffs Brown Sugar while Ronnie fiddles around and hits high notes. Its fun stuff.

And I'd have to agree with most people about the bstage, its killer. Even if they @#$%& it up, its still brilliant. Backup singers & brass can bite the dust. Better yet, lets bring Johnnie Johnson back from the dead and get him to knockoff Chuck and take his place.

OpenG,

I've watched that show maybe twice. Ronnie was no worse on the B-stage. Keith actually came to life more and so perhaps made Ronnie look worse. It's not necessarilly that you are 'wrong'. But how many times do you need to be 'honest' by saying the same thing?

May I be honest and say that even I am getting weary of Ronnie bashing. I don't honestly think that he'll get much better on the next tour - but can we give it a rest till then?

no no please why give it a rest?

he HAS to be honest and we all HAVE to appreciate it

what's next Open-G?
please i do want to be enlightened
it is so cold and dark out here
brrr

IMO (remember i am blind and deaf because i dont' believe in God i.e. MT) HBO's Midnight rambler and Monkey man were great renditions and also IYCRM was groovy
while i hate chuck's brass under angie and find let i bleed average

and uh i don't like the b-stage very much IORR is average as it has been worn out and played as a staight chuck's cover, when the whip is noisy but messy and they miss the changes in rhythm that is its force. BS, well, here we are OPen-g, i adore to be entertained with brown sugar and always will, i don't give e fuc# about mistakes or flaws, because i know what it means to be there in the crowd and have just fun.period

But...but if OpenG lives in the 70's and only has ears for Taylor then how come he knows all about the HBO show?

Maybe he's really a closet fan of Ronnie Wood .

I am sick to death of this, too. It's almost (but not quite) enough for me to abandon the board, but I won't do it. I won't bow down to obsessive trolls (slobbering Smeagol-type creatures, "Mick...Tayyylor....my precious").

They, like Smeagol, are annoying, but need to be slapped aside once in awhile so we can go about our business.

Well, worse still imo, they are likely to put people off Taylor or from wanting to go to see him.

Must go and dig out the MBO show. I thought IORR was one of the highlights!

It was all I said was that keith played all his chuck berry licks and RW did
nothing same with when the whip comes down.
