Hello,
I had seen Bob-O three times before and it was 2-1 in my favour but when The Man is playing on three consecutive nights a mere seven miles from you then it seems only polite to turn out, no?
Anyway, I knew that the setlist had been static for the last three shows in Glasgow and that again proved the case all weekend, at least up until the very last song, which has been "Blowin' In The Wind" but he had a flash of genius in giving "Roll On John" it's live debut! Lennon must have smiled at that...
The band were immaculate for all three shows and Bob's voice was fine and at times totally clear: he seemed to take great care to deliver each night and that applied to his mouth harp too. It clearly means something to him still, as it should do at £70 a ticket. I know some folk might be happy to see the bloke who wrote so many great songs merely walk out before them but this went way beyond that: he believes in his catalogue and especially his later work too.
Thanks to Gazza for sorting the tickets to the Friday and Sunday shows: I was only going to attend those shows but in the event I chanced my hand and got a ticket for the Saturday show for £20!
