But how does it sound?

But does it sound better than, say, the CD that came out with the SUPER-DELUXE EXILE ON MAIN ST set that came out a couple years back?
EDITED FOR SPECIFICITY AND SPELLING.

the thought of Tattoo You in utterly pristine form
Has the 4.55 Slave not the longer 6.32 version that came out on Virgin back in '94

Bring on the Bluray!
I'm tired of CD format, I have no use for it as I have no use for my Walkman or my Rubik's Cube
Let's get out of the 80's and enter the 21th century, goddamn it!

They are the best versions on CD if you like flat mastering (no additional EQ, no compression).

So, can we hear any more detail. Is the bass punchier. Do the guitars ring out. Does the mix sound less cluttered and muddy? That's what I'm wanting to hear?

Did I quote the wrong message ?
Yes you can hear more detail, the acoustic guitars sound more natural, there's more depth, more clarity. But, because it's a flat transfer, you may find the sound a bit dry if you're used to the remasters. It's the original recordings sound without any fancy remastering trick on it.

I wouldn't care too much about this. SHM-CD's are already supposed to be an improvement over regular CD's. Plus platinum SHM-CD's won't play on older CD player...

I have many CD players. All of them could play them.
plus even PC player and blu-ray player could play them.
To my surprise this Platinum SHM series have good sound quality.
Especially, Stevie Wonder's Talking Book and Dire Straits were big surprise.
Although sounds become juicy and bright on Exile On Main Street, I feel somewhat uncomfortable.
