I enjoyed reading about the Love in Vain favorites. So what do you think about Midnight Rambler.
My personal favorite live version - no doubt about it - it Brussels and I prefer the bootleg Brussels Affairs taken from the FM broadcast, not the Stones Archive. Although that one is really awesome too.

I find the 72/73 versions tough as hell but if I have to pick one LIVE version Ya Yas has never been topped!

Plenty of contenders for that; all between 1989 and 2007. The "Everbody say AW!" versions....

Exciting and impressive as some of it is, the widdling on all the live versions takes a lot away from those things.

Vegas this tour was mighty. & I was a really good one @ the Hard Rock on the 40 Licks tour.

Brussels 1973 gets my vote! Ya-Ya's a close second. The studio version is really great as well. It is a lot different from the live versions.

Atlantic City 89 is one of the best!!!

This is correct, but in fairness there isn´t a lot of widdling on the 1989-2013 versions - and many of them are really good. In the good ol´oldies-set, MR still provides some of the darkness needed to be unique - even though it´s nowhere near the effect of the original, imo.
