Vinyl experts please -Through the Past Darkly - Red Label

I've just bought an origianl octagonal-sleeve issue. (Vinyl looks in bad condition but plays well so must be surface scratches only).

The odd thing is that the record is stereo (skl...) but that the label is red.

Even odder is that the Decca logo is unboxed!

So is this a very rare issue? From another land? Another planet?

Check the outer edge of the label, it should say where it's made.

Possibly Australia?

Could be South African too, no?

Yes, it could be South African. Hope so for his sake, it's worth more and probably a better pressing. If I'm right information the Aussie and New Zealand pressing weren't so good in the 60's. Am I wrong?

South African in good quality harder to get, but quality of OZ pressings are as good as anybody's else's

Just had a thought, if you google the catalogue number that should come up with where it's from.

You never know, could be Australian...could be The ALIEN!

First Stones album I got, for Christmas 1970. What a great collection of songs. The songs that made them the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world.

Agreed, Silver Dagger. My dad bought it around the same time and luckily for me, kept it alongside the earlier comp, Big Hits. IMO, two LP's that deserve more respect than they actually get. They are the originals, after all. I would spin both records regularly.

Yeah, the problem is that by 1971 ABKCO usurped them with Hot Rocks and if as to emphasize the point, More Hot Rocks a year later.

Still, both rather bullet proof collections.

Thanks girls and guys, I will check the outer label and report back.

Silver Dagger (I don't see before me) it was also my first new Stones album.

The sequence of Sitting on a Fence to HT Women is killer. Palyful/whimsical to
Arresting/Assertive.

Acoustic guitar signing off and then acoustic cowbell signing in to commence the best rock single intro ever.

There is no info regarding country of origin on the label.

These are the characters on vinyl itself between the last track and the edge of the label:

XZAL9067.P

Will that help indicate country of origin?

'Thank you kindly'

I googled and found this:

You mentioned SKL in your first post...what numbers after SKL do you see. I think that is what would identify country of origin.
