A very nice movie, much better than LSTNT, the "offscreen" commentary (reminiscent of Crossfire Hurricane) works really well and the odd selection of backing tracks (Till The Next Time, Hide Your Love !!) works very well. Actually it conveys an "emotion" (44 years since HP 1969, Brian, first concert by Taylor, etc...) that wasn't really felt at HP1 or HP2 where it seemed very much "business as usual" for The Stones.
It wasn't loud enough but SFM, MR, GS really sounded as "mean" and "groovy" as they ever did. If only for MR with Taylor this 50th Tour was all worth it!

Just watched the Showtime version and was very pleasantly surprised by the film. I thought it was very beautiful and poignant. With all the moaning about the cuts, I was struck by the exquisite little details captured by the cameras--onstage and off.
At a point where the Stones' performances have been so thoroughly boiled down to sets of their most dependable, tried-and-true tunes, the interest of the whole thing seems to me to be about the personalities of the band and the power of the audience's gathering. These shows are something like the ultimate "victory lap" and a last chance to celebrate the phenomenon of the Stones. The movie catches all that in such a lovely and sensitive way. Amazing how far away we are from Scorcese's 2006 portrait...

So has no one else had any trouble with the interlacing on the Blu Ray? Everyone's HD picture is fine? No jagged pixelation on fast movement?

What's wrong with it?
The 1st List in exilestones' Post isn't accurate regarding the Videos, because the Videos described with "07/13" (apart from ER, SFM, RT, Happy) containing also Stage-scenes (I cannot compare the audience) from the 6th July. The beginning of 'Satisfaction' is from the 6th July, but you can also see Stage-Scenes from the 13th (look at Keith's Headband).

I enjoyed the 1999 version of Little Queenie, even though the 1969 version was better. Just saying...

No problems with the picture quality on my japanese Blu-ray (which is interlaced too). Maybe the described issues are caused by the 'Picture-Enhancement-Functions' of the TV / Display or BR-Player.

I know.... you need another review of this film like you need another hole in your head. Well I have been putting off watching it until I had time to watch it in totality with some great beer. Belgian ales and a great cherry tobacco blend in my pipe and it's a great night. I really really wanted to like this film, but I can't...

Bluray. My comments on sound are directly related to the actual mix. This is also a popular mixing trend. Handsome Girls sounds light years better than Live In Texas.

Thanks, I tried mine on two different tvs so it could be my Blu ray player...

I watched this last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Rolling Stones are the elder statesmen of rock and now, at this point in their career, it's all about entertainment and having fun. There's nothing left to prove really...they've made it time and time again. My favorite period is the Mick Taylor Years. You simply cannot compare the energy and the rawness of the performances back then to now, but that would be patently unfair to expect that, anyway. On the way to work this morning I listened to my Philadelphia Special (1972) cd and it was awesome. Mick Taylor was phenomenal... but he was very good at Hyde Park...just didn't get enough of him!! It's thoroughly enjoyable watching summer concert films, expecially in the winter. We really need the sunshine and warmth right now. I particularly love watching the crowd, young and old enjoying the music. That blonde little boy dancing was precious. Having said this, I can't wait to see some videos from their 14 on Fire Tour..it will definitely warm the heart!
" I remember him as being "
That's Charlie speaking.
And yes, having seen the band in all live forms in Europe since 1973 - the Taylor band was the most forceful and sublime - they were just on whole higher level of intensity and excellence. Unsurpassable at their peak.
I don't know if anyone picked up on this, but something Mick Taylor said in his voice over struck me as a little odd. Maybe it's just a manner of speech and absolutely nothing more which I presume is the case. When talking about the Hyde Park Concert in 1969 and his debut with the band, he referred to himself as "I remember him as being...." I'm sure that was Taylor's voice, and then I believed Charlie chimed in and said that he was very amusing and it was a joy having him, etc., etc. Sorry, but I can't remember this brief voice over verbatim, but it appeared that he was detached or disassociated from his younger, possibly more troubled, unhappy self. Just an observation, I probably got it all wrong..just have to watch it again, and see if I get that vibe.
Also, as a side note, CYHMK was played during the promos for the film "The Family." That's on MOD right now...don't know if the song is part of the film.

I like Mick quoting Shakespeare after Doom and Gloom:
"Blow like sweet roses in the summer air." — LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST
"And summer's lease hath all too short a date." — Sonnet 18
Those quotes puzzled me at the show. I can't shake the impression that the person entrusted to come up with an apt quote
googled too fast and thought those two lines were from a single work
("... and what poet starting with Sh did he mean??" "Damn, I forget! Well - how many can there be??" )
I love the Rolling Stones
