OT: McCartney

Has anyone seen Paul this tour? He's playing tonight & I'm thinking about going down to the stadium & see if I can scrounge a ticket for cheap. I've seen him 3 times going back to 1976. Judging by the ticket reseller sites, it looks like there were a lot of speculators out there who are stuck with extra tickets. I know I'd enjoy some of it. It's the problematic newer material that gives me pause.

I have seen him multiple times since 1992. Last time was on his Christmas tour in Europe like 3 or 4 years ago.

He never disappointed. Haven't seen him this tour, I don't know much about the setlist. Bu I doubt that he'll play much never songs. I guess you can expect around 3 hours of Beatles & Wings classics. So I would go.

I saw him few days ago in Washington DC. I didn't have a ticket when I went. At the ticket box office, they were selling $180 tix only (floor). The wheather was uncertain with strong possibility of rain so I didn't buy one at the box office. I waited a little bit as the people(40000) started to enter the Ballpark. Suddenly I saw one young guy holding a ticket in the air.He was selling it for 1/2 the price. I bought it $50 section 203, a little far but with a roof above my head. The concert was really good. More than 3 hours of beatles' and Wings' music played by 4 sometimes 5 musicians. Very good show and I'm not a big fan of Macca but he puts on a great show for sure.
Rock and roll,
Mops

Saw him during the 'On the Run' tour in 2011.

He did a pretty hefty set, you'll definitely get your money's worth.

2 out of the 3 times I've seen him, he's been great. The bad one was truly horrible. About when "Coming Up" was out. I'll probably do it. My concert budget is still recovering from the Stones! thanks to all

Rumours of more concerts in Europe before the end of 2013...looking at the announced dates : [en.wikipedia.org] - might be some room in December like in 2009...

Wonder he's going to put that album out, September would be a good time I think!

My Valentine is the only "new" song in the setlist. I think your safe there, ha-ha. By the way I've never been diassapointed by any of his concerts. If you like him solo or The Beatles I suggest you high tail it to the gig.

If you haven't seen him he's well worth it. Plays a great show despite the cheesy banter but that's part of his style. He's also quite thoughtful for those who have consumed too much liquid by playing ob la di, long and winding road and a couple of others which allow you time to get to the toilet without missing anything important.
I've seen him twice in recent years and he was fing awesome but then i'm a major Beatles fan of over 40 years so it's practically a religious experience.
He's definitely taller than Jesus. Go see him again if you can.

Saw him in November and paid full price on the floor...excellent. If you can get cheap tickets, it is a no brainer.

I have seen him in 2004 and in 2011. Both concerts were just awsome. Go.

Saw him earlier this year in Austin, TX. It was a great show, marred only by the fact that he is digging DEEP into his Beatles catalogue, and some of the stuff he's pulling out is a bit weak - All Together Now, Obladi Oblada, Your Mother Should Know. But, it's all so familiar that somehow it still manages to be enjoyable. He played a few magnificent songs - Junior's Farm and Back in the USSR just smoked. and since I don't go to a ton of McCartney shows, even his "warhorses" (Hey Jude, Yesterday, etc.) sounded great.

GO!

Macca should be on everyones list of people to see at least once. In 20 years you'll look back and kick yourself you passed up the chance to.

I saw Macca in 2003. Probably the best concert I've ever been too. You certainly get value for money. 3 hours, about 38 songs on that tour, most of which were Beatles numbers. I also enjoyed the cheesy banter between songs. He's a real showman! Rich.

Saw him 10 days ago in Fenway Park in Boston. Strange that in the U.S. he only plays in baseball parks--must be his own sense of nostalgia in recalling Beatles tours.

That set list posted above looks identical to the one he played the show I was at, which lasted 2 hours 45 minutes. Well mixed, lost of nuggets from Beatles and Wings, and 4 songs off Band On The Run!

Before Paperback Writer he told the story of when Hendrix had covered Sgt. Pepper in concert just days after its release and of how Hendrix had thrown his guitar out of tune for playing the song so hard. He appealed to Eric (Clapton), who was in the audience that night, to come up onstage and tune his guitar for him--but he refused! Ha Ha!

Macca said he mentioned this because of the Epiphone Casino guitar he was holding, which is the very guitar he played on the original record, which he then used to launch into Paperback Writer.

I, too, enjoy the between-song banter, as his narrative adds a layer of warmth and intimacy to the fabulous historical elements running through the set list. Even after 3 hours, you would have wanted the show to go on even further. He's in great voice and great shape with a great band, and you will be glad you attended.

Funny how over here everyone's going "yeah go see him, great setlist awesome,he's ace, great banter" but if you go to a hardcore Beatle site (the equivalent of iorr) they generally complain about the warhorses and other aspects of his song selection, ticket prices, banter always the same, whether he should retire,he's really lost it now, whether he should get Mick Taylor back in permanently on guitar etc.!
Hilarious.

Wow - thats really going deep into the beatles inventory. I man most of these songs (Day tripper and one more perhaps excluded) I knew before he was giving, but not so many in one occasion. I really like him for that - unlike George (and Lennon for the decade he lived past the beatles) he knows the crowd is hungry for beatles - certainly since they never played live in the "Modern touring age" (none of their shows ever had the quality of the worlds post "summer of love" rock concerts). He puts aside all ego issues and gives the audience what they want, pay for and expect. I wish I would have another chance seeing him in concert.

I posted earlier that I was there and he was great. Primo seats, next to the stage. I had a Michael Jackson hair scare moment when the pyrotechnics went off during "Live and Let Die" though! Sorry you missed it.

Yes, that is funny--the biggest fans are also the biggest critics.

So how many on those hardcore beatles sites also hate The Rolling Stones the way a fair number hear will sneer at the mere mention of The Beatles?
