Lots of young fans were singing Miss You, SFTD and IORR on the tube after the show. The after-show mood was magic on the way back to Victoria

For the Stones and their fans, in 1965 it was a gesture of defiance and rebellion.
In 2013 its more likely to be the result of an age-related medical problem.

In the pit at Philly 2, next to me a 14 y/o fan with his dad. Kid knew all the songs, and rocked his ass off the whole night. I love seeing that.

I've never understood the notion that music has to be "current" for the listener to accept and like it. I started listening music by the Stones (and Beatles, Dylan, etc.) because I didn't like what I was hearing on the radio (early '90s). There were a hell of a lot of CDs outside the "New Release" bin, and exploring the back catalog of a band like the Stones was highly satisfying. I'm still doing it 20 years later.
It doesn't matter how old you are or what era you live in. All you really need is a copy of Hot Rocks and you are on your way.

In many cases, teenagers are discovering the Stones (thanks to Youtube, firstly) without any urge from their parents. I know teens who love the Stones and download band's songs and albums, while their parents don't even know what the hell "Sticky Fingers" and "Let It Bleed" is. I feel happy when i see that!...

Defiance and rebellion? Against whom, a petrol station attendant? They asked to use the loo, and the attendant refused, so they used the wall instead. Where's the social revolution in that? When you gotta go, you gotta go.

PS: Warhorse haters please note that Miss You is the one they all dance to, and Sympathy and Miss You are the ones they go home singing.

This was absolutely the case where I was in Tier 3. Loads of 20-somethings in my section, and everyone went wild to Miss You. More than most other songs. In fact their enthusiasm was infectious and really enhanced my own enjoyment - of Miss You, and the whole show.

When you say young fans, how old, on average? My teenage niece will have absolutely nothing to do with the Stones. She even grew out of Adelle and Rihanna. These kids today have the attention span of a fly. Even if you could get them to listen to the Stones they would be finished with them in a week or less. You must be talking about kids in their twenties and thirties? I call them kids because I am as old as Mick.

Miss You was played very well this tour, as was Start Me Up. Two songs that I could have lived quite well without seeing again, but am glad I did.
