Very sad news. He was brilliant as Tony Soprano.

If you think he looked old for his age, you probably don't realize how old you look. A new guy started at work the other day, and I thought, "Why are they bringing in this old guy?" Then I found out that he and I are roughly the same age.

RIP

It was fun watching him in The Sopranos.

I always thought that his quip about being a '260-Pound Woody Allen' was a hint to Mr. Konigsberg to cast him.
That would have been lovely.

He was really good in ...

He was really good in everything I ever saw him in. He was a wonderful actor.
I'm surprised I feel so hurt by his death - actors are not major characters in my world,
but he was just so goddam appealing, and in such an offbeat way. Love and light

He couldn't save "The Taking of Pelham 123" though.
And I wonder if, like many actors who became stars with a TV show he did manage to make it on the big screen...

I only saw a few episodes of the Sopranos (I live in a farfetched place where Sopranos don't) and know him mainly from films.
Of course he appeared in some crap, but he was still a fantastic actor. Love and light

In regard to that MSG Thru and Thru clip.
Gandolfini is actually in the audience in that show.
They show him on Four Flicks. I think during Satisfaction. He has a beard and is wearing a bandana.

Now there definetly won't be a Sopranos movie. Shit....

RIP

Mick mentioned The Sopranos, along with "Sex IN The City" on MSG show 2003...

A New Jersey guy on and off the screen and a great actor. R.I.P.

That makes two shitty finales...

Seriously, a role and actor perfectly matched on a show that re-invented american cable television. A real loss. I understand he leaves young children as well which makes it even sadder.

Yes very sad. Today it was revealed that it was his 13 year old son who found him still breathing. He was lost at the hospital.

well there's a movie which stars him in a low-key role as a dad, the movie is 'Not Fade Away'..

not great but quite a lot about the Stones in it.

he was a great actor.

His series wasn't my cup of tea but I feel sorry for him so young, may god bless you James and your family.

I think the creator of The Sopranos (David Chase) was also involved in that movie.
He is like Scorcese as far as his inclusion of Stones music.

Very violent at times but not as violent imo as the first HBO drama- Oz. What's amazing to me is so many of the important characters on The Sopranos were really just small time actors before the series started and some weren't even actors at all.

Yes you're right he was there.
Very sad news. Great actor, 51 is way too young. Life is so fragile.

I'm guessing it was a lethal mixture of cocaine and red meat that did him in.

Iconic TV show and character from the modern era. Loved the guy. Sad news indeed.
