Arcade Fire's Win Butler is the guest in Montreal
Posted by: rollingon ()
Date: June 7, 2013 19:46

The Rolling Stones have posted in their Facebook page that the guest will be Arcade Fire's Win Butler in Montreal next Sunday, they are asking to comment on which song he should be performing.

What do you think about him?

Arcade Fire is a really really great band.
Win Butler a great writer and performer, so should be ...eh ...great.
Didnt they do "The Last Time" together on SNL? That could work.

Good choice! thumbs up
I hope his explosive nature will find a better way to express itself than the slow paced HOS...

Play With (Arcade) Fire

Do they usually announce the special guest that far in advance? It must be a mea culpa for their choice of guest star of a few days ago. Arcade Fire looks so edgy in comparison.

I am still hoping for Randy Bachman! It would be really fitting.

Win is a cool guy and a knowledgable fan of great music. When he was headlining Coachella two years ago, he spent most of the day hanging out with Big Audio Dynamite in our trailer (I say "ours" as a friend) and was unassuming and fun. In fact, Mick Jones and I and the group went out onto the field to enjoy Arcade Fire afterwards because we liked Win so much and their set was very good.

Fantastic guest.

I'm having trouble finding a proper video ... but some audio and 40 sec clip from SNL:

Really pleased Win Butler is joining us in Montreal. I had a great time playing w him on SNL, so I know his Stones duet will be outstanding

I'm not a big Arcade Fire fan (mostly don't know their music), but I do know they are HUGE in Montreal. This will be a Grand Prix Sunday for the ages.

Love that rendition of The Last Time, especially the intro.

Do you think Keith even knows who this guy is? Or cares? I know many disagree here, but to me the efforts by Mick to seem "relevant" and "contemporary" come off as forced and sometimes embarrassing. Do Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan or Tom Waits (artists who have been around as long or almost as long as the Stones) need to bring the latest young thing on stage with them? No. They are secure in who they are. I understand that the Stones need to sell out bigger venues, but if that were so important they could, oh I don't know, lower ticket prices or something.

Waits lives in his own world and Dylan has done countless stage-sharing over the years... okay not with Taylor Swift but he did with Dave Matthews grinning smiley

to sell bigger venues?? do you really think a single ticket for a stones concert is sold in the expectation for the guest appearance??

Yeah, they could. But you and me know they wont lower their prices. And they always played those cards. At least since 81/82 tour. But even in the 60/70 acts of the month were engaged to fill arenas.

Let It Bleed or Moonlight Mile, but it could be Whip just as easily. Good guest, I like The Suburbs album

Why didn't they just sub Faraway Eyes in for Dead Flowers and make this a Some Girls all request show?

...except Jagger didn't seem forced or look like he was trying too hard on SNL with Arcade Fire or Grohl...it was great...refreshing actually...and honestly was nice to see that he could keep pace with dudes 30 years younger..and make the song sound relevant.....maybe the problem is KR if he doesn't know who these guys are
