Bobby Rush and Bobby Bland are still active but generally the blues guys are all dead or done like Otis Rush.....

Yes, there were some great Kings who didn't get the respect they deserved.
BB is amazing as a player at his age and with his health problems. He has also been good to other musicians financially and with advice...which hasn't always been true in the black music community.

Of course Buddy Guy!

BB King is also a legend, certainly more than Buddy Guy, but not very active those days...

Eric Clapton? I never really liked his music.

Do you know Joe Bonamassa? He is a future legend! One of the best guitar player in the world!

I also think that Lucky Peterson will be considered as a legend in the future.

Benjamin.

"The blues" is creating legends as we speak/type. There is a whole crop of young people who make a fine living playing the blues, but "Legend" status will not be annointed to them for a long long time... it is just the way things are.

Most every city and every town has a blues club... with blues jam nights (at least) weekly (I think jamming is one of the best things about the blues) so head on down there and check out the "kids" who can play the blues, it is, they are somewhat amazing.

Yes BB King is here in Milwaukee May 31 but I plan on being in Chicago for the Stones. I was hoping it was an off date for the Stones so I could let know and hopefully they would show up for BB.

It's hard to believe James Cotton is only in his 70s. I saw him over 30 years ago and he looked tired and old even then.

When I was in Boston for the BB concert in Foxboro in 2006, there was a black Blues guitarist playing in the Boston Public Gardens who really impressed me a lot with his fluidity. He said he'd been playing for 30 years in Boston and Cambridge. His name is Manny.

I'm going, Freddie, Albert, Earl, Don and BB. I am not a fan of BB's cleaned up dressed up "white mans" blues. I can't hear the Delta for all the vibrato in the world.......I'm a Muddy/Wolf/John Lee guy. I maintain, with Hubert dead, Buddy Guy is about it as far as active goes. However "legend" may be kind.

Buddy is basically the last bridge to Muddy in my book. Probably Johnny Winter too.

I saw the beebs in 1986 and he didn't move off his stool. He was 61 then and I'm sure I thought he was in his late 70s.

a great show though!

he was standing in '79...so through exhaustive investigative research, we've determined that his stool moved into the act, thus rendering him inactive somewhere between the years 1979 and 1986.

Saw BB in '88 supporting U2-he did the encore"When Love Comes to Town" dressed in fully in leather! Would be funny to see it now! Looked like a butch shiny black beanbag that someone had dropped a guitar on.
