They are in LA. Should the R. Stones play a Doors song?

I think it would be pretty great if they played a Doors song. I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Strett Band the day Johnny Cash died and he opened the show solo in a black and white stage lighting and played I walk the line. It was beautiful.

They won't play a Doors song, but Mick maybe will say something about Ray.

It would be nice if the Band dedicated the show to his memory.

The Stones and Doors used to cover some of the same songs in concert. They should have Robbie Krieger on to play Little Red Rooster and dedicate it to Ray.

Don't think it will happen, though. There was a bit of a professional jealousy thing going with Jagger regarding Morrison. I'll bet Mick won't say squat about it.

This version has John Sebastian on harp.

They should play "Who Do You Love!" They nail the Bo Diddley beat and have done so since 1963 and the Doors used to cover that one. Just a thought.

I bet Keith couldn't even name a Doors song much less play one.

The Stones aren't the type of band that can pull off a cover last minute that they haven't rehearsed.

Right. It's sad that Ray died, but are the Rolling Stones Doors fans?
Have they ever mentioned them?

The only thing I remember they have ever done to honour a recently deceased was the short piano track after Sleep Tonight on Dirty Work.

Still more enviable qualities in Keith.

I only wish the archives of my mind could have similar omissions.

Someone here mentioned rivalry between Jagger & Morrison. We can play Stones at home, too.

Did the Stones and the Doors meet? Has there ever been anything written about their meeting? I believe they did. I recall that the Stones weren't that impressed or something. Mick was supposedly in the audience for the Hollywood Bowl show.

There was a thread on this topic last year, titled 'Mick meets Jim Morrison':

Also, in case anyone has heard the myth that Jim Morrison suggested the title to Exile On Main Street, Keith dispelled that myth in 2004.
