Mick & Keith's Relationship....Such a shame..
Posted by: mgshorr ()

Here's the deal...

Clock is ticking for these guys and its clear that they are not so friendly anymore.

Wouldn't it be nice if they patched it up sooner rather than later/never?

What a HUGE shame if these guys to go to their graves as enemies. (Perhaps they are not enemies, but they sure aren't friends.)

Their music will be around as long as there are people on earth to listen, so its time they:

1) Step back to look at the big picture
2) Celebrate what they have accomplished. They couldn't have done it without the other.

Sometimes it seems like success eventually destroys everything it touches.

You know, I remember Anita saying that Keith likes to give Mick a hard time.
So, maybe the problems go way back.

I am not saying it's Keith's fault or Mick's. It's both of them, I think.
It's egos. They have hurt each other badly. I feel sorry for Ronnie and Charlie
as I think they have to play go-between. So childish.

I just enjoyed them more when they were friends. I would wager most fans feel that way. It was fun seeing them have fun together.

It's sad that it's like this now.
Really noticeable on stage. You can see them looking at the other when the other is not looking.

That is true about hatred, come to think of it. Two of the other Beatles didn't like Yoko Ono and most fans and the public hated her.

And look at her today: 10 Number One dance tracks on Billboard. She thrives on that hatred and uses the energy in a positive way.

I'm drawing a blank now, but one of the songs at the Staples show, Keith was a bit off and Mick just turned around gave him the death stare. It was hilarious. If I think of the song I'll post a link to the video.

It IS a shame but honestly, it's not something we can do anything about. It's like trying to resolve a long-standing family feud.....we have this in our own families! I think that they're as friendly as they're going to get...let it go!

Also, ever notice that when Mick starts talking to the audience in between songs, Keith will just start playing the next before Mick is finished speaking.

It's the little things that probably drive each other nuts.

Mick had the nerve to interrupt Keith's erratic guitar solo in Sympathy the other night...in the video you can actually see Keith turn back towards Mick with a "What are you doing?" look...now that is fantastic!

They've been messing w each other like that for a longgggg time. The most obvious is Keith playing the opening note to HTW over and over interminably - there's no way mick can come in before the first lick, and mick has to come in on time right after it's played. Over the years there have been some great death stares from mick to Keith over that.

That's so true- there is a nasty one in the Shine A Light DVD during Far Away Eyes before the "sharing the mic" bit.

A Mick and Keith punch up could be the greatest rock n roll moment of all time.

Now that would be a way to go out on a high...

I could care less if Mick and Keith despise each other so long as they can still turn out good music as the Rolling Stones. At this point they have a business relationship and a musical relationship. Nothing else and who cares?

If it was really untenable them you would see Mick Jaggger out there on his own performing tunes from Goddess in the Doorway, which is not about Jerry Hall.

Who would win? Mick is in much better shape...
They would probably just yell at each other in front of the audience.

I don't think you can judge their relationship by their on stage behavior. It's a stressful situation where tempers are bound to flair up. That doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how they interact off stage.

Didn't they already patch it up on Mustique, during "World War III," when they spent the day with each other and the bottle of Jack Daniel's came out? It's in Keith's book. Whatever current relationship they now have, came out of whatever they decided that day, with just the two of them, no managers, assistants, hangers-on, etc.

i'm not allowed to glare at my co-workers. why is the stones' behavior at their workplace any more tolerable? i think we need to bring the matter to HR....

They don't interact offstage. On the stage is the only time they ever see each other.

They must have so must "baggage" between them from the 60s, 70s and 80s, and they are not very easy persons I guess (Ronnie hasn't said this directly but between the lines one can read this...), neither of them, I think they respect each other very much musically but as people become older, they sometimes become also less flexible and open minded so this can cause problems between them, but it's really sad if they cannot be friends any more, they should forget everything has happened...Keith's book opened all the wounds I guess, the publishing of that book should have been postponed to 2025. If Keith is almost sober, it's very good for his playing but it's not necessarily so good for their relationship because Keith is more relaxed when he is not sober!

We don't know that for a certainty. Mick did say that Keith has been friendly and hard working on this tour, perhaps things will thaw more as they go along.
