Very cool. But the tempo seems a bit slow to me. Is it just my imagination? Do any of you more musically inclined folks know how many beats per minute they used to play this at, as against the current version.

Historically, the tempo is slow at the beginning of tours. It picks up as the tour goes on. Let them find their groove. That's what it's all about. Can't beat the rhythm duo of Richards/Wood.

Running slow like a vinyl boot from the 70s.

Oh, wait, sorry, they are actually playing it at that tempo.

Yikes.

I hope so. It didn't so nearly this slow during the Shine A Light concert in 06. There are just some songs of theirs I don't think can be played slowly, and it really makes them show their age. Perhaps being a tad harsh, but its one of my favorite songs so it kind of makes me cringe hearing it this slow.

On another note, I find it hilarious they had the whole "deposit your cell phones" thing and then one of the few videos that surfaces is from right at the stage lol!

Jesus, I know you guys have heard the tapes of Hyde Park and even the '69 shows. The Stones played slow and sinewy. The fast tempos are what makes the shows "Vegas" like. That and the coke in '78 and '81. It's not about age.

Excellent video, great guitars. looks like it was shot from the VIP section that bv described, there was even someone else with a smartphone in the air...maybe they figured since it was the end they wouldn't be thrown out, or if they did wouldn't miss out on too much.

Risky (you can see Mick's bodygard on the other side of the "tip" scanning the crowd) but great for those who couldn't make it!

That must be Lisa next to Bernard? This confirms no MT for the encores (that one at least).

Brown Sugar should be slow with a jungle beat undertow.

They did it right at Altamont and not many other times after.

This is pretty good. I can't hear what Charlie's doing so well in the video but he is the key to this.

Comparing the two versions..

Mick moves less distance in the second video and is visually much more effective.

That's why I think he needs a mic stand to play off as a focus.

He always seems a bit awkward and lost with a handheld mic.

Listen to the original recorded version. This tempo is exactly as the original. The way it's supposed to be played.

yes I agree.

The rhythm section has to be slinky at this tempo for it to work.

Very important.

Too slow for me. If you compare the 2012/13 versions of this song with the hi-energy licks-tour versions you may wonder what happended to this band.

They have often attempted to get the tempo down on this and other numbers. Noticeably slower versions on BTB tour of BS and JJF.

Probably not a good idea for 70 year olds to be coked off their tits playing faster and faster.

But atleast on the BTB-tour this song had a nice ''groove''. This is nothing but slow.

The studio version is 126 bpm.

The echoplex version is 126 bpm.

Too slow?

Just listened to Echoplex again. The tempo seems fine. If anything, they tend to do this song too fast. The song should rock and roll, not rip through the joint.
