The "Gentlemen" 1) Iggy Pop 2) Mick Jagger 3) David Bowie 4) Bruce Springsteen 5) Ray Davies
The "Ladies" 1) Patti Smith 2) Deborah Harry 3) Madonna 4) Cindy Lauper 5) Nina Hagen
Had a terrible row with myself over the battle between Iggy and Jagger for the no 1 position. So, what did the trick? Iggy wiggles his bum sexier than Jagger, and he's definitely a bad boy to a much greater extent than Jagger. And best of all: Iggy will never, ever be a SIR... Nor a gentleman. Thank God!
High Voltage, Stiff Upper Lip, Blow Up Your Video,... all albumcovers with only Angus. Because he is the frontman. There's no album cover with only Bon or Brian.
I don't think that there will ever be an album cover with only Keith. While Love You live, Goat's Head Soup, Tattoo You have only Mick on the (front)cover.
Not that that is the definition of a frontman, it just proves who the frontman is.
1. Mick Jagger 2. Bruce Springsteen 3. James Brown 4. Roger Daltrey 5. Janis Joplin
I identify with the male image, of course, but Janis could cross the gender-line and speak to everyone--she was truly a ground-breaker.
For the men, I choose command on stage, and commanding presence. Daltrey showed an amazing development as the Who progressed, and is arguably the best singer of this list, when he was on top of his game (from "Tommy" through "Who's Next".)
